I'm so sorry for your loss... Been there four times through two relationships in my adult life and it only got worse with every loss. 4 years ago it happened to me and my now ex-girlfriend which in fact was a miracle, because the chance for her to get pregnant were at a poor 5%... And as if that wasn't a miracle in itself, there were two embryos on the ultrasound... It was only weeks later that I learned that she had inherited the cystic fibrosis gene mutations from both her mother and father, and that she was pre-burdened with other diseases that made pregnancy a risk for her. The chances of her dying at birth due to the co-morbidities were too high and it came to pass, as her OB already suspected.... she started having terrible abdominal pain a few weeks later.... her OB gave her two options: either miscarriage or a D&C and she chose the latter because she couldn't stand the pain anymore... I still haven't gotten over that loss to this day and I probably never will. But songs like yours allow me to vent my own feelings that I kept hidden for years. I am a highly sensitive person and I can feel your pain. Honestly, I'm listening to this song for the 17th time in a row right now. The tears are flowing like streams and it just won't stop. This song is such an artistic sensory overload - it is the Mona Lisa of music for me, punctuated with the sound of guitars. And I mean that with every fiber of my body. Thank you for this masterpiece, Jon. I hope you are doing well, please take care of yourself.

I almost can't listen to this beautiful song although I absolutely love it. Our first one left us very early in the pregnancy. However the pain and tears were real. We were ready. He wasn't apparently. Not talking to anyone about it but sharing it here on KZbin now for some reason. I also lost my job that day - which in comparison of course only was a minor inconvenience, nonetheless did not aid us in coping. But it seems all that needed to happen this way so we could later welcome our now one year old healthy son to planet earth. Suffering and joy go hand in hand in this crazy carousel that is life. One can't exist without the other. This is why I feel deeply connected with the tragic notes that make up this phenomenal composition. The way Jon plays it gives me the chills. One of the reasons I am an aspiring fingerstyle guitarist myself. No words to describe the ever-growing connection to this magical instrument made of wood and steel. Thank you Jon for this piece. Edit: Thanks everyone for the kind words and all the best to you! Music mends and unites 🎼

I got a daughter, you know, and she has only 3 year old, but, Jon, let me tell you, she loves your music. We probally will never meet you in person, since we're from the very south of Brazil. As a father, I barely imagine how deep your pain is, and it freaks me out just to think about your loss, devastation and emptiness. As a man, i got to say for you to stay strong and hold on tight. As a fan, I'm gonna simply cry. God bless you mate. There's something more than meets the eye.

Grief will come (and go) in waves. Face them as they come in and trust that they will leave again. Allow yourself to feel that pain but not be buried by it. For myself I must cling to my belief in God, in Jesus, in Heaven and that my boy is in His hands. Everyone grieves a bit differently. Be so, so patient with each-other during this time, especially since you will most likely grieve differently. Stay connected and help each-other through. My wife and I lost our 13 year old son last September. Still dealing with those waves of grief that come sometimes unexpectedly like a rogue wave, and sometimes you can see them coming for hours ahead of time. You'll get through this. Keep writing and I can't say it enough, don't withdraw from each-other. Stay close. God bless and keep you.
