Holy cow! You weren't kidding! That bike ride was soo hard! I did it today. I met 2 other people at the beginning and later saw them in Frutiller. They also agreed about the difficulty and we all walked those steep hills😅 I'm not a biker. So I'm sure to those types of people, it's not that bad. All that said, I'm proud of myself and the views were stunning.

La nalca o pangue (Gunnera tinctoria) es una planta ornamental y comestible perteneciente a la familia Gunneraceae. Es nativa de zonas templadas de Chile y de Argentina. Los peciolos de las hojas son comestibles, fibrosos y en mayor o menor medida astringentes, pero presentan abundante agua; y se utilizan crudos (en ensaladas o consumido en forma similar a una fruta, generalmente con sal) o en mermeladas o jugos. Tanto su aspecto como su modo de consumo asemejan la nalca al ruibarbo (Rheum rhabarbarum) y en otras lenguas esta planta es conocida como "ruibarbo de Chile", mientras que en el sur de Chile el ruibarbo también se conoce como "nalca alemana" o "nalca de ruibarbo". Las hojas son una parte esencial en la preparación del curanto, plato típico de Chiloé, porque se usan para separar los ingredientes y para impedir que escape el calor desde el hoyo hecho en el terreno. El tallo tiene uso medicinal por sus propiedades astringentes.

Glad that you liked Puerto Varas and that you enjoyed the catamaran to Peulla. You got yourself a pretty sweet deal with Marca Chile. Algarrobo is pretty nice but now overcrowded with people and cars in the summer. If you ever go there, eat at the El Hoyo, a local favorite.

Dude! I was just there a little over a week ago. Some friends and I stayed for 4 days in Puerto Montt, stopped by Puerto Varas, and ate at some clock restaurant in Frutillar. A friend of ours started a Bible Study in Puerto Montt, and we went to visit him. We passed through your city of Linares as we headed down Ruta 5 on our way from Viña. Going to Valdivia next week.

This video left me with such a sense of longing in that I've been to most of the places you shared! I had pizza & beer in that restaurant that you went to, lamb & cilantro pizza that was amazing! Thanks for this awesome video John; it brought back lots of memories; I totally agree with you; Puerto Varas is the most beautiful place in Chile, especially Frutillar, I had the chance of visiting those same places, ate at the same restaurants; took the same tours and it was so cool to see those places from someones else's perspective. Chile is such a beautiful country; I am going back in June to Atacama and planning one more trip to Patagonia region by the end of the year and really encourage everyone to visit Chile.
