You guys seem like really positive people, thank you for the video! It seems like Torres del Paine beat El Chalten in terms of views but the convenience on that Fitz Roy hike also seems attractive. Hopefully I can do both! I would probably skip Moreno Glacier (just to save money) because I used to guide glacier kayaking in alaska so I've had the chance to get close up and personal with glaciers.

Thank you! There are several few points in Torres del Paine that make it incredible, but for us seeing amount Fitzroy from the laguna was one of the most amazing things we’ve ever seen 😁 They are all worth visiting - Patagonia is just so beautiful!

Amazing video with lots of tips, thank you guys! Going there in March so very excited 🥳 you mentioned about paying flights in cash direct with the airline and only paying 55%. Do you know if that’s the same for all their flights? Or was this a one off deal? Thanks!
@SomethingToRemember10 ай бұрын
Glad to hear it was helpful! The flights worked out 45% cheaper because we withdrew Argentinian Pesos from Western Union and then used that cash to pay for the flights in the Argentinas Aerolineas office in Buenos Aires. It’s not a deal or anything like that, it’s just a matter of getting your money at the “blue dollar” exchange rate and then using that cash to pay for everything. Western Union is how to get money at the blue dollar rate. Hope this helps 😊

How stunning is Patagonia! I was wondering if you got to see Cerro Torre, which lies directly behind Fitzroy? Had the reputation of being not only the most beautiful mountain, but also the most difficult and dangerous climb in the world. It was very controversial because an Italian mountaineer called Maestri, had taken a portable compressor up with him and destroyed the climb by drilling and inserting hundreds of bolts, making it easy for every one.
@SomethingToRemember Жыл бұрын

Was it truly that easy for you to book a flight on the same day to Ushuaia when you went in January (peak season)?

There was a campsite in the forest on the Argentinian side, and as far as we know, you don’t have to book anything, but you should double-check. I don’t think you need to pre-book tickets for the national parks, but you do have to book campsites or accommodations in Chile inside the park.

Can anyone provide tips about visiting western union and taking cash out? What are the payment options to get cash from WU? I’m travelling from Australia.
@SomethingToRemember10 ай бұрын
1. Download Western Union app and set up an account. 2. Send yourself money (use your own name as it appears on your passport) to be collected in cash in Argentina. 3. Use your bank card to pay through the app. 4. Take your passport, a copy of your passport and a screenshot of the number you receive when you complete the transaction on the app to any Western Union in Argentina (opening times and times for foreign exchange transactions vary from location to location). 5. Collect your cash. 6. Come back and subscribe to our channel for helping you save money 😋

Is Ushuaia really worth it? 22 hours by bus looks hard

"They went to El Chaltén a day before, slept there, and the next day they hiked to Fitz Roy? This is because from El Calafate to El Chaltén it takes 2 hours by bus. Or did they do it this way: round trip on the same day?"
@SomethingToRemember4 ай бұрын
As we said, we stayed in El Chalten. You have to go early and I wouldn’t fancy going on the bus after the hike

Which tour did you do for Torres del Paine?
@SomethingToRemember10 ай бұрын
The owner of the hotel we stayed at took us but has since stopped doing it so we can't recommend it. We did see tours on TripAdvisor for around €70 which we are sure would be fine too! Another option is to rent your own vehicle.

@@SomethingToRemember thank you! Currently debating if we should do a day tour or hike the mirador base since we only have one day.

Hi, could you share how much it cost you for the day trip to Torres del Paine from Puerto Natales?

Around €70 per person😊you can rent a car as well for the same price!

Great Video! But with "Full" Day to Torres del Paine N.P. you didn't visit the towers, you just looked at them from a long distance... you missed the chance to see 90% of the beautys of the park (the towers themselves must represent 10% of the other incredible landscapes... even prettier than the towers themselves) 👍 As an advice, you need to do the O-Trek, 90 miles of incredible adventure!

It is just seat on the bus, not bed? If only seat, 22 hour bus ride can be tough, not comfortable as you mentioned? Thanks.
@SomethingToRemember29 күн бұрын
Yes, not a bed, but it’s pretty comfy. There are actually 2 buses and 5h break between them, but we were hold up because of the ferry and had to go on the next bus straight away
@Tom-zg9te29 күн бұрын
@@SomethingToRemember Thanks. So if there is no traffic, it is only 17 hours or so on the bus and there is a break of 5 hours to transfer the buses?
@SomethingToRemember24 күн бұрын
Something like that😊 you can try to find a cheap flight to get there, but it was very expensive during the peak season

Wow ❤so freaking beautiful 😍 I dream of going here and taking my girl. El Calafate seems like a place where the lord of the rings, or the hobbit should have been filmed.

I didn't get your tip about using Western Union? Did you withdraw in Argentinian Pesos from WU converting your EUR or you simply got a exchange rate and got more EUR in value and used EUR for daily transaction?
@SomethingToRemember Жыл бұрын
Basically, you’ll get more Argentinian Pesos by wiring yourself money via Western Union than you would by just withdrawing cash at an ATM 👍🏻
@viraj1981deshpande Жыл бұрын
@@SomethingToRemember did you find businesses directly accepting USD or EUR but still giving you Blue Dollar rates (i.e. you end up paying less in USD/EUR instead of carrying local currency. I heard rates change so fast that if you possess local currency it may not be the same value the next day? Any advice there?
@SomethingToRemember Жыл бұрын
In general, no… The only place we saw signs saying “we accept dollars” was in tourist hotspots like El Chalten in Patagonia, and even then they would give you your change back in Argentinian Pesos. Their currency is very much Argentinian Pesos, not dollar or euro… We spent about 5 weeks in Argentina, the rates go up and down a little bit but not enough to really notice. Bottom line is that you definitely need to use Argentinian Peso cash and the best way to access it is by using WU 👍🏻

Amazing video ! One thing Western Union exchange rates are normally AWFULL compared to other ways of sending/ exchanging money …. As far as mi remember I would lose 10% of my money if I used Western Union ….. Also 35 USD for an entrance to an amazing National Park is not hefty compared to the 20 to 30 English pounds I have to pay to enter each tourist attraction here in London for example . The last thing I was going to mention ….. trying to get a flight in the last minute in high season it is Impossible….I suppose you guys went on low season . Cheers !
@SomethingToRemember4 ай бұрын
Normally, yes, but it's different in Argentina-you get the blue dollar rate. We went in January, which IS peak season 😌

Helpful video. It's worth noting now that the 'blue dollar' rate is no longer that advantageous since the December 2023 currency devaluation. The Western Union rate is now only around 10% higher than the MEP (Mastercard and Visa rate), so you only save 10% by paying in cash vs card.

Are there western union in patagonia area?
@SomethingToRemember Жыл бұрын
There is one in Ushuaia and El Calefate! But they are veeery crowded so it’s better to arrive early or get cash in Buenos Aires. They do accept USD in some places and give you change with blue dollar rate😊
