As a young Airman stationed at Travis AFB in 1953 I first listened to Joni. I have never tied of listening to her. Such a lovely voice and presentation. In the years that followed, she sang each and every song, just for me!

Tender, sung from a cute sweetheart, just a sweet sweet person,naughty but so cheeky yet will pay your bus fare first for you, which actually happened to me,in 1960, ,a girl from next door,the next door girls'school, a time lost only to your deepest sadly romantic memories..in those days when you were so shy and quiet..

Lovely old songs.. brought me smack bang into the old romantic periods.. when i was young.. with an old love.. first love.. and all the young romantic things we did..love was like being so warm,hot yet innocent., almost with only limited funds...we walked or took buses,rode on bicycles..i recall visiting her home for a week in sg lembing...near kuantan...now im old dr...and she is a retired nurse although she married another cancer dr in Australia...we parted after writing letters for three years...love can't survive not seeing each other for three years...yet my memories are still crystal clear.

Now she is an angel...she was quite a sincere, religious person. in the best sense of the word. And this sincerity is reflected in her very feminine, easy-flowing style of singing...she came from a large Italian family, and so wanted to have children, but could not have her own...so she adopted and became a great mother to those two children. She was just a high-quality person, in an industry full of lesser types!

How did I find this gem only now. The beauty of the melody and her voice feels almost otherworldly, to good for this world, to perfect
@drrobertling13932 жыл бұрын
Yes..that's the word,dear , otherworldly..yet warm and lovely that brings your youthful romantic memories zooming back from 60 years ago when you were young certainly not so wise and rather hardened by this world..something in her special voice....like she said in her interview..the song producer wanted her voice,her....No no not those big blondes...that one..That short dark one....with the million dollar charm in her voice..that will sell all our records..
Lovely, velvety voice from a time when melody and lyrics actually mattered. It is my great personal loss and shame that I had never heard of Joni James until about a year ago. Thank you for posting this wonderful album!
