I'm damned near 44 years old, and it's taken me all this time to discover how briliant she really is. I can't get enough of her now....a wise and tender soul.

I'm 19 and new to her music. Just within the last 3 months I have bought a few Joni Mitchell albums, and my best friend gave me one for my birthday is September. I can't get enough of them and plan on purchasing more, she is true brilliance and has become one of my top 10 favourite artists. The "Taming The Tiger" album is taking awhile to grow on me, but I'm sure over time I will love it. Clouds, Chalk Mark In A Rainstorm and For The Roses are amazing thus far. Most def. get more soon! :-)

I'm 62 and have been listening to and loving Joni's music since I was about 16. Some of her later albums took me awhile too - as though I had to grow into them, but although I like some more than others, they all have a lot to offer! How nice that you've discovered her! Enjoy!

A whole generation later, I found Joni two years ago when I was 18. My favorite albums are definitely Hejira, Turbulent Indigo, Hissing of Summer Lawns and Court & Spark. I feel the same way about Taming the Tiger, I like a few songs but haven’t yet gotten into that particular album.

One of the things I love and respect about Joni is that she's a "real star", and her fans made her a star --Not a fake personality brought about by a stylist or producer. If you can become famous by being who you really are, you're pretty damn amazing.

Joni Mitchell is a very rare songwriter for women and songwriters in general i mean alot of girls just made pop records she made poetry out of albums and i think her albums are gold especially the richest of them all were Blue how i want that album to be one of the last ones i listen to before i die i love it and Live on!!! Joni Mitchell

I have not yet purchased Blue, but do plan on buying it sometime soon. I've heard snippets of the songs and it does sound amazing...I've heard 'River' all the way threw - classic. :-)

I adore her. I knew I would meet her one day. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and had bumped into John Lennon. Yoko Ono, Dylan and so many others. I happened upon her at Bullocks, Westwood in the linens dept., but as much as I love her, I hadn't wanted to disturb her day, by having a fan bothering her. However, it was Wonderful to see her.

I love what she says about rock vs. rock 'n roll. She's been around. It's true that a lot of the rock drumming has been almost militaristic. Good rock dances, it skips, it lilts, it's not only a straight white military march.

I always wanted to me Joni. On evening on the Sunset Strip, near midnight, just as I was leaving Tower Records, Joni came bursting into the store, looked right at me, and asked "Did you just see who stole my car?" After she told me the make and model, I went tearing out into the barely moving traffic. My chance to catch a thief and win Joni's heart. Alas, I couldn't find the culprit. Luck however, got me that far, so at least it gave me a shot.

She looks very different here. It's amazing how a haircut has changed her face so much.

Was one of them Blue? because if it was great choice for someone who wants to get into her it is brilliant if you haven't bought it

I've been friends with a number of famous people in my life, and know how some feel about not being disturbed, while out in public. She was intently looking at linens, and she seemed as though she wanted to be off on her own. John and Yoko were dining at the next table in a restaurant in Westwood. They also seemed like they wanted privacy. Dylan was another matter, I was walking into a restaurant, he was sitting outside, and he smiled and said hello.

@JBinOtown if cigarettes ruines her voice, it certainly took a LONG time to have an effect...joni's phenomenal, with or without cigs

good interview. Favorite. so sorry the smoking gets in the way. I think Dylan quit, had to or die. big JM fan since Song to a Seagull. Raises the scale way up on high. Even her jazz covers brought that voice to a good selection.

@sbrownie Certainly! It's not my fav Joni album though...'Clouds' is my favourite Joni album, with Chalk Mark in second :-) But I do appreciate the overall important of Blue and respect that as a part of music history.

drachirzimmer - that's a bit like blaming Beethoven for his deafness or Vincent for his loneliness.

I think it just changed it and for the more interesting too. Of course it hasn't made her voice angelic anymore but whatever. It's funny cause it seems Joni just smoked more and more the older she get. And I think her classic prairie accent is great because she talks like she sings.

don't know why people are so costipated about Joni's smoking !! considering that she is one the most important artists this cotinant has ever produced and my favourite , admiredand respected world wide . she can do whatever she pleases . just frank zappa and john lee hooker it looks good on her , and if she were to do an iterview without a smoke i'ld worry about her . she's been smoking since she was 9 so she knows what it's all about . i like ballsy people like her doing it their way .
@JBinOtown15 жыл бұрын
Yes, the cigs ruined her voice a bit, but her music isnt about the vocals....though in her youth she was flawless.
