After a lifetime of listening to this song I see how brilliantly it captures the metamorphosis of thought and spirit that accompanies the years, but I am mystified by how she knew all this at such a young age. I have concluded that Joni is a special being -- like Newton or Mozart or Leonardo.

Yes, I further believe she is deeply intuitive and so in tune with the rhythms of nature. I know when “Clouds” was first released I played it so often it would play in my head without the stylus touching the vinyl. I would guess I sure wasn’t the only one who found this masterpiece album to be the friend you turn to when you need a soul hug.

In some ways, my favorite of all her albums, although Hejira is a work of genius. Yet... so many songs from Clouds stick with you forever, including this one.

Early Joni was by far the best. Her voice was stronger and prettier and the music had a magical quality to it. Blue would be the end of her peak. After that it was one relationship after another we had to endure. Then the music became a little too trendy.

Watching this I can still feel like that 17 year old boy again hearing this for the first time. Oh I had such a crush. There will never be another Joni Mitchell on this earth again. TG her time here has been the same time as mine.

"I gave you all my pretty years Then we began to weather And I was left to winter here While you went west for pleasure And now you're flying back this way Like some lost homing pigeon They've monitored your brain, you say And changed you with religion" One of a million examples where Joni appears to be writing out of my own diary.. Best part is I know you all feel the same way! Hail the Queen!!

Isn't it remarkable how music genres develop? And that there are artists within these genres who develop a distinct voice? And all the more remarkable that there are those like Joni who can simultaneously transcend that genre with their brilliance.
