Even though Joni wrote this song in the 80’s, her message, along with her critique of the audience members talking, encapsulates our present moment in 2024. In what way are artifice, brutality and innocence not part of our current reality, including those who choose to ignore the peril? This is a breathtaking performance that resonates, today, in a profound way. Thank you for uploading it.

This was on her album "Dog Eat Dog" -- an album much maligned by those who only wanted to hear her earlier folksy acoustic sound. Personally, I love the album, and I applaud her for her willingness to reinvent herself. Great artists will do that.

Joni's always great, but I miss the synth and drums on this one. They're an essential part of the song. But of course, she works it! 😚

"How can you hear if you talk?" And she singing about that SAME thing of the era--the manifestation of an increasing lack of attention span. Talk about an artist reaching here.
