“Hope is everything,” says Joni Eareckson Tada. She knows the power of hope, and the fact that hope can be hard to find in the midst of hardship. When her life got turned upside down by her diving accident and resulting paralysis, Joni felt as if she had plunged into darkness-hopelessness. Then she got to know Jesus.
Hoping and trusting in Jesus changed Joni’s life. To this day, it gives her a reason to get up in the morning, to embrace life, to move forward in love toward others facing similar difficulties. Hope hasn't erased the hardships Joni faces, but it carries her through the dark moments and seasons.
Since Joni founded an international ministry to reach people living with disability, hope has radiated through every aspect of her work: sharing hope through hardship. Joni and Friends continues this kingdom work, moving toward the vision she shares: a world where every person with a disability finds hope, dignity, and their place in the body of Christ.”

I met you many years ago in California. It was just before my deployment U. S. Navy. Your faith was a joy to see. My wife over many years has had many surgeries and you both share a never ending Faith in our Lord Jesus. Through those many years, my wife found little ones who had things like Spinal damage and other medical things and needed a God Loving touch and would baby sit so the mother could go to work. Earlier this year God gave me the word HOPE - specifically in Romans 12:12. "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, constant in prayer." I remember learning about about you in my Church group when I was 12 back in ‘79. I remember watching the movie you made, and I really remember being blown away by your beautiful drawings! Fast forward to Dec. 3, 2018 when my husband of 31 was thrown from a lift at work and became a quadriplegic. We’ve been “blessed” in that he regained some finger movement in both hands, so he can feed himself, shave, write (if necessary, but he hates it), do jigsaw puzzles and play games on his I-Pad. That all said, the only way he’s been able to stay at home is because of our son, who has been a rock. He turns Frank and helps me immensely. Frank is a bigger guy at around 250 pounds, which makes being his caregiver harder. I’ve been doing well till this year, when I’m starting to get burned out. It’s hard to get good help where we live. I’m getting older, have some sciatica, a bunch of cysts on my hands from the caregiving. It seems that God has become silent as of late, which has me wondering “why?” But I’ll keep pressing on, and take life one day at a time. God bless you, Joni. ❤
