Gotta get out to Cali, NYC, or the best spots in Europe. Skate shit people can relate to and say "damn I been there that was amazing what he/she just did." Not that I agree but it's a tale old as time pretty much.

Yeah 100%. There's no way Giger wouldn't have kept filming until he got it right if that was a mistake. That bonk was absolutely on purpose. Knowing Giger, even if he did actually do it as a mistake on one of his first tries, which is possible, he would have realized he could do it on purpose and that would be the take he put in the video.

One reason he gets hate is for showing the process on some of the tricks where he shows 98 attempts to do a dragon flip to finger flip or something like that. Where a lot of part videos just show 3 to 1 attempts. Also, in the YT world doing "Hardest Tricks of" whatever skater is modern era video fodder. Full respect to it being hard. But it is like top 10 listicles.

Makes me think of certain artists, musicians or fighters. Ones who just go absolutely bonkers and brutal with what they do. I haven't skated since I was 13 when my dad accidentally ran over my skateboard with his car and refused to buy me another, but for some reason Johnny Giger showed up in my KZbin feed last year and I liked his vibe and his videos of attempting and failing difficult tricks until he nailed them captivated me. Almost makes me want to buy a skateboard and try it again, even though my body would not be very appreciative or cooperative in my 30's. I somehow injured myself while I was sleeping last year, went to sleep fine woke up injured, so I don't think a hard slam would bode well for my ability to go to work and pay my bills.

He's such an awesome dude. and yeah about him doing the normal tricks, he's spent literally thousands of hours practicing tricks of Rodney Mullen, and it's mostly on video on his channel. And the fact that they are always talking about supporting skaters and skater run businesses. This guy is a huge entry point for new skaters and shows people a way to skate if they don't have crazy obstacles near them or don't want to jump down crazy shit. I'm just saying, they're telling their audience of people who work for a living to donate but they can't? That's weird. You gotta get out to Cali or NYC or the hottest spots in Europe and put it down on the areas and spots that put you on the map thats "in" at that moment, thats the reality. If JG went to Cali or a place like Macba and put it down on something people can relate too and say "wow man I been to that spot thats unreal" he'd no doubt get the recognition and more sponsors. In my personal opinion he's doing stuff too inspired by Rodney and needs a a better editor and filmer that captures more wide angle lower to the ground angles.
