In 1969 I went to a small club in Ohio to hear an 18 year old Phil playing with his group, Glass Harp. I was a guitar player in a local band. We all knew Phil was already light years ahead of the rest of us. Joe Walsh was in the audience that night. Phil invited him to the stage. We incredibly lucky people were treated to something like this video. It was such a mesmerizing experience, it simultaneously felt as if it went in for hours and yet over in a nanosecond. It’s 50+ years and I can still feel the awe.

It must have made Jonny's day to jam with Phil Keaggy. Phil has some of the coolest licks I have ever heard, and like BB, he has a very contageous inner joy that defies description.

The amazing part about Keaggy's playing is that he can do this regardless of the style. Blues, Rock, Classical, Fingerstyle acoustic, Jazz. He can shine in everyone of these genres.

I love this. Jonny has so much soul and feel. Keaggy is obviously a master, and Lang knows this, and you can tell he's absolutely blown away by Keaggy. But Keaggy is such a humble servant, he's not about competition. Both awesome players in their own respects.

I have seen Phil in concert and know he is a humble man as he walks with the lord. I actually saw Phil play in a concert in the 80s at a church. he was playing one of his songs, missed a note and apologized. the crowd didn't care we were happy to see him play. Also I have to say Phil doesn't contort his face when he playing like others do. Not that there is anything wrong with that. He just naturally enjoys the pleasure of making that guitar sing

BB King might have been the first to release it -- but the song was actually written by Bono... so I think it's fair to call it a U2 song. The first time it was ever performed in public was by U2 (with BB joining them) in 1987.

Watching Tommy Sims direct the band..... He would be a FUN guy to play alongside of..... Lang is a good player, but watching his face at 6:30, he clearly is in awe of Keaggy and enjoying playing along side Phil. Phil is such a nice soul, and a STOOPID good musician. I have been lucky enough to see him 3 or 4 times and was never, ever disappointed.

I hate to date myself but over 40 years ago they asked Eric Clapton how does it feel to be the greatest guitar player in the world this is back in the 70 so this is 45 years ago probably I watch this interview back then he was called the greatest guitar player ever he may not have been the greatest guitar player ever but that's what it was called remember we still had Jeff Beck and the great Phil keaggy so anyway they asking this question how does it feel mr. Clapton to be the greatest guitar player of all time and Eric Clapton replied I don't know you would have to ask Phil keaggy that question enough said ladies and gentleman 😎😎😎😎😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 praise God amen Phil keaggy

This is a variation on an urban legend that has been floating around online for many years. Phil has always disavowed any of this. I am certain that if you were to ask Clapton though, he would readily admit as to how good Phil Keaggy is. He’s widely known and respected among players.

does anybody know where to find Phil Keaggy's guitar solo and vocals for a Christian song he did in the 70's simply called Hallelujah? it is hypnotic the guitar, the layering. I've talked about his guitar playing for years and most people were snobby about it, but now, you all know, Keaggy, he rocks! with any music. anybody know where to find that particular song. loved the guitar so music on it. Hey Phil, if you still have a copy of it, please send it to me. mine was lost a long time ago.
