Like to add Heidji was one of the few if not earliest minorities depicted in animation as a main character. Also, Doug was against making Dr. Zin a stereotypical ' evil asian' character and was the only recurring character in the original series.

Dr. Sin was the ultimate villain... and, in true to pulp style... would always find a way to come back...

You forgot to mention that the clip seen during the closing credits was part of the Jack Armstrong pilot film. Also, that Jade was one of the very few female characters seen in the first iteration, and that "Mystery Of The Lizard Men" is the only episode from which Hadji was absent.

Very good. And speaking of Jade, it blew my mind one day when I was watching episode 4, "Pursuit of the Poho", and when sweet Drena Hartman said something like, "He's outback trying to wash off those berry stains." and I thought I recognized the voice of the sultry Jade. Drena and Jade were voiced by the same person. (I've never really researched that. Are my ears right?)

Its worth noting the made for TV movie where we actually meet Jonny's mother before the parents' curse catches up with the Quest family. And Jade, Race Bannon's on-again, off-again partner/rival/love interest.

Only thing I hated about that was Jade looked Asian in the 1964 show while she was a redhead in that movie. Dang it HB you had 1 job to do!

Doesn't Venture Bros straight up Call "Action Johnny" Mr. Quest several times and credit him as "Johnny Quest" as well? According to the wiki, Action Johnny was originally a thinly veiled spoof of Johnny Quest, but the writers found out Cartoon Network actually owned the rights to the show and started overtly making Action Johnny a grown up Johnny Quest, but got told to cut back on it due to fears they'd tarnish the brand before an apparent Reboot

Would of been incredible if a real live action movie/series of a 12 year old Jonny could of been completed to fruition. CGI could be used only with the monsters and machines, not the humans. Seems like it would of been a winner to me.

In my humble opinion, if it "ain't" from the original 26 episodes, it "ain't" Jonny Quest.

You didn't say anything about the characters or the milieu but just gave us a chronology. Kinda disappointing. Not even a mention of Tim Matheson. This one is kind of a toss off. Nice discussion of Wildey and Bickenbach (sp.?)

Jonny and Hadji having two dads is pretty much their normal situation. Race is the caregiver and fun parent and Benton was the money-making breadwinner.
