The original Jonny Quest series was a true classic! The show should be remembered right along side Tom and Jerry, Yogi Bear, Flintstones and Scooby Doo.

Man, I loved to watch Jonny Q. when I was a young boy. I hope they make a movie about the adventures of Jonny Q. like the Indiana Jones series.

The "forgotten man" in this narrative is Doug Wildey, an ex-newspaper adventure strip artist/writer who more than anyone was responsible for creating the "look" and "feel" of the Jonny Quest series. Wildey later returned to Hanna-Barbera as producer and designer of their Godzilla series and creator/producer of the unjustly forgotten Jana of the Jungle. His design work and story sense was always distinctive.

For over 50 years he created along side Hanna great cartoons, I think he earned his attitude, when cartoon network was still young I use to watch it for hours on end, I would wake up at 6 a.m to watch Huckleberry Hound and would fall asleep watching Top Cat. I would anticipate every time Swat Kats came on and also count the "real explosion effects" in TRA of Jonny Quest (I thought they were the coolest thing I ever saw in a cartoon). Also H-B taught me the English language.

Imagine actually creating history, a permanent part of American culture.

It reallt stinks that they hate to mention him when he was the real creative force behind the show.

actually I think a lot of that later stuff was done when Joe and Bill were alittle less in control. But yeah, a lot of the derivative stuff like Scrappy Doo was crap, don't get me started on things like Grape Ape or the Cattanooga Cats. Ugh!

actually it was more toward the end of it. In 1965 it was common cartoon fare for some guy to pull out a gun and shoot someone straight in the face. Inevitably the result was the person who was just shot would be covered by a smoke cloud that cleared to reveal his face blackened and charred. Rifles frequently appeared out of no where, and people would run away from a hail of bullets. This was considered humorous kiddie show stuff at the time.

Wasn't he also responsible for Scrappy Doo? You'd think he'd have a little more humility.
