The more I see about jerry west as a manager the more I need a breakdown of all his successful stories just as a basketball manager.
@CrazyxEnigma7 ай бұрын
So brief summary, after his playing career he spent some time as a scout and coached the Lakers when Kareem got there but before Magic in the mid to late 70s. He officially became the GM for the 1982- 1983 season replacing Bill Sharman(yes Celtics legend and coach of the 1972 Lakers championship team). I dunno if it's officially confirmed but drafting James Worthy was likely West's first move as the guy in charge of Bball operations (he did have a say prior and was actually not sold on Magic being y'know Magic and wanted Sidney Moncrief instead a rare miscalculation from him) From then until he left the Lakers after the 1999- 2000 season all moves the Lakers made during Showtime, the mid 90s rebuild with Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel, getting Shaq, drafting Kobe and building the foundation of the roster that would threepeat you can attribute to him. He went to the Grizzlies after and was there from 2002- 2007 and turned them into a playoff team and unlike popular theory he did not in fact gift the Lakers Pau Gasol for his brother and trash, he was already gone when the trade was made. He then joined the Warriors in 2011 and most notably threatened to resign if they traded Klay Thompson for Kevin Love. He then went to the Clippers🤢(I will always remember Jeanie decided to be a petty idiot and not bring him back when he was interested in coming back after she sent her idiot brother Jim packing and to add insult to injury his son had been a long time employee and head of our Scouting department) in 2017 and I'm sure had a hand in getting Kawhi and PG there(personally I also think he had a hand in getting Kawhi to lead the Lakers on during FA to be petty but that's just a hunch on my part)
@thetruthstand7 ай бұрын
I've always thought about the Michael Jordan, Clyde drexler and Hakeem olajuwon trio. I'm of the belief that neither of them would have become what they became, because all three of these players became all-time greats because at one point in their career were considered the primary option for their teams. In this scenario somebody has to be number one, two and three respectively. These three individuals do not become what they became if this team up happens. Also, we have thought this before about teams with three superstars. Still a crazy what if, but those are just my thoughts. But the butterfly effect of these trades are crazy. These possibilities are endless.

The Houston trade would have been nuts. The thing is we never got to see Jordan really play with a dominant big man and can you imagine having to double a driving Jordan and leaving Hakeem one on one with someone or leaving Clyde Drexler open on the perimeter. What would a team even have been able to do defensively to slow these three down. You also get two of the great two way players of all time so now not only do have you great perimeter defense surrounding MJ but you also have great interior defense as well with Hakeem. Which also means MJ isn't having to slide help on the interior more freeing him up to harass ball handlers even more. Also Hakeem and Drexler would have been a few superstars that could have handled long term play time with another superstar like MJ. They were both hard workers but didn't really care if they were in the spotlight. I definitely think you see MJ running the point guard position in this trio. Assuming they all stayed healthy and coming in on rookie contracts in the 80s meaning Houston would have great cap room to go get good role players. This team would have dethroned the Lakers and Pistons as the teams of the late 80s. They also would have dominated into the early 90s. I think the one downside would be the hit it would give to MJs legacy and also Hakeem's legacy. Would MJ still be considered the GOAT after playing on what could have been the greatest superteam of all time.

Maybe they could've traded Ralph Sampson for MJ and John Stockton or Charles Barkley. An even bigger it is that in the 1983 draft, Ralph Sampson was the 1st pick in the first round Rodney McCray was the 3rd pick for the Rockets and Clyde Drexler was the 14th round pick for the Trailblazers, imagine if the Rockets chose Clyde Drexler instead of Rodney? That trade had it gone through would've been before Rose was drafted. They lucked into getting the #1 pick and with Kobe there I doubt they miss the playoffs so no Rose for the Bulls.

KG + Kobe would be called the Big Bean lmao In all honesty, who is beating them? Nobody. I’m glad it didn’t happen. Kobe would have more rings than MJ and it wouldn’t even be close. Without injuries. Which goes to show winning is a team effort. Can’t base a goat on rings alone.

If Jordan gets kemp he wins 10
@markjackson64317 ай бұрын
no. 1) he wouldn’t win a title 2) because of that….he wouldn’t have returned and stayed at 3 rings.

Mcgrady and ai wouldve won zero rings two shot chuckers

CP3 and KOBE wouldnt work..both need the ball and LAKERS with GASOL and ODOM were a lot better. JORDAN wouldnt have won all those rings since they wouldnt need RODMAN who was really important. KEMP was overrated. WHILE PIPPEN would be a perfect fit to pair with PAYTON and DETLEF SCHREMPF... KG wasnt better than GASOL at that time. TMAC and AI 2 ball hogs ( even TMAC said it wouldnt work) A way better trade was the DUNCAN to ORLANDO MAGIC. KOBE wouldnt have won a ring in chicago... KOBE was more near from DALLAS in 2007 and that yes..that would have made them TITLE CONTENDERS..

When they compare super teams to the bulls, I always say, imagine if Dream went to the bulls in his prime to play with MJ and Pippen? That’s basically what the Heat and Warriors did.

I don't get why some people are so adamant on proclaiming the Bulls a superteam they weren't lol. A damn good team but not a superteam.
@moety27 ай бұрын
@@CrazyxEnigma it makes no sense. Like when did a top 5 player in the league in their prime joined up with the Bulls? They act like everyone wanted Rodman when he joined. They got him by trading Will Purdue lmao.
