Hi Jon!! You probably won't see this, but I wanted to tell you I enrolled in a pottery class this semester! I did a bit of wheel work in highschool, and some classes at my local shop in the summer but I'm finally consistently working with clay and I couldn't be happier. I just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me for so long :)

I also watch Von Smith on KZbin and he has been having trouble with his advancer shelves sticking to the post's. I saw you gad the same issue. He started to put kiln wash on the ends of his post's and it stopped the sticking issues. Hope this is useful information for you.

Wow! Amazing work. Will you grind the drippage and be able to sell the pot? Can you show the process?

Love your work, inspired me to get back on the wheel and taught me so much regarding pottery. Hooked up 220 to my kiln and I'm back to throwing trimming and glazing work every day. Thanks JTP, you have re-kindled a love for pottery I had almost forgotten.

Do you check specific gravity of glazes before you begin glazing? It might help with the excessive running of glazes.

You can have more than three layers of glaze depending on the thickness of the glaze, how you apply it and where you put it

When you fire them upside down, do you grind off some glaze first? Or just go for it?

To keep them bestshape, handwash but most ceramics can be put in the dishwasher.

Hello Jon, Vaughn Smith of Westcote Bell Pottery has coated each end of his kiln posts with kiln wash to prevent the posts from sticking to those beautiful, light weight, glaze doesn’t stick to, I want them, shelves. Great mugs. Why the heck are they soooo expensive?
@bayareaartist999
@bayareaartist999 3 жыл бұрын
The upfront price of the shelves seems prohibitive. But if you get one more shelf of spoon rests or coasters they will pay off the thinner shelves in no time.

@@bayareaartist999 Thanks for the chuckle. I know your right. I often hesitate to experiment because just I don’t want to grind the shelves. I’ve decided to blow the bundle and order them.

Morning! Unloading is the BEST! BEAUTIFUL work! Thanks for sharing. Tried to pm you a quick question here on KZbin, but unable to do so. My QUESTION: I unable to find Buttercream, Canyon Skies, and Northern Lights glazes anywhere. Do you have a suggestion on where these colors can be found/purchased? Ideally I’d prefer to purchase the 5# dry rather than by the pint, but finding them at all would be amazing. Thanks for your time! BEAUTIFUL WORK!
