I guess the question I have is do you feel that having a youtube channel about pottery really helped launch the popularity of your pottery and therefore sold more?

I'm have a pottery business as well and I really enjoy the variety and how much creativity can go into pottery. So far im not making any money because im still building my studio and getting supplies. While trying to decide what clays I want to use. Im selling stuff here and there but not enough to cover my costs yet. I also want to mention that Im an artist and use to paint and it was so hard to sell paintings. Got my jeart broke over and over and then ended up giving away the paintings. Anyway the thing I love about having a pottery business is that it sells and mugs sell and people want it.

I appreciate you’re trying to help us with information to start a business. And I haven’t watched whole video yet. I’m just saying this now cause I’m gonna keep watching. Is someone who is starting a very small one like you did with your pottery when it may be first started or someone doesn’t have money to invest is making a small start if you have more informationon that. Like I’m thinking building of stock to have something to offer but then where do I take it? Where are the best places to do that depending on what circumstances I have. I hope that makes sense. Thanks again for your video!

Can you show how you place the cones and how you monitor them during the process. When they look a certain way you turn off the kiln?

I love that you two are doing this! I got a lot out of it and it has me thinking that hiring some help with content creation doesn’t hafta be so extensive or expensive that I couldn’t afford it. I’m going to start searching for the right person that understands my vision and is willing to tutor me a bit as well. Thanks for getting my brains fired up a bit! 👍

While it was nice to hear your story and listen to you guys chat it would have been cool to get a bit more than 'just do it' and 'start small'. Maybe list some of the pitfalls or things people might not consider when starting a pottery business. Things to watch out for. I'm guessing Ty's 15K this year is gross income not accounting for time/materials/travel, etc. ?

What if you shaped a podcast around an interview with an emerging potter? The person could ask you both all sorts of questions about pottery and running a business.👍

Could you talk about your differences in styles of pottery, or similarities? I'm new to pottery and love talking to others at the studio I go to, there are so many different expressions in clay and glaze work, I just find it fascinating to learn so many different viewpoints from all the other potters.

I'd love to know what software you chose to record your podcast on, with the dual screens, issues you encountered and ease of use. Are you planning to release on Spotify etc. Im currently researching this and hearing your experiences and recommendations would be very insightful. Love the concept that your podcast will be so varied and cover such a wide diverae mix but still remain cohesive. Great idea! 🎉

I found this interesting. My friend runs Texas Pottery and Clay Supply in the north edge of Fort Worth. They mix clay and sell all things clay related. They teach classes, have a couple of days a week of open studio, do school inservices, and pretty much anything else to bring in the bread. It is a very, very hard to way to make a living - but they are happy. They are an age now when the idea of retirement is looking good and people come in interested in buying. The right mix will come up one fine day. What I am saying is that people with a passion for clay found a way to make a living with it.
