I very much appreciate the format of your playthrough for this video. I started to get bored of using Spishstar to loop and clear everything, so I started to playthrough story and events using only servants that appear in each particular node. Some are near impossible with the base max levels, though I'm not sure a 120 NP5 version would be able to clear them either. But it's definitely made the game a lot interesting and challenging to get through that way. I have a few videos of this on my channel; Ibuki Douji in Heian-Kyo with story only and one of the defeat 10 enemies Traum quests, and I'm hoping to make more time to upload more of them. General rules are to use servants that appear in that story/event node, can use sacrifice servants to get your servant solo if they're alone in the story, can Chen Gong sacrifice a servant if it forces you to use the support one over your own copy, and can use any support if you're able to fill up the other slots with just story servants (i.e. there's 5 in the chapter and you're forced to pick a support). Any CEs and Command Codes are allowed, though I tend to try to use the event CEs generally during events. I think it's technically possible to F2P this type of playthrough too at least for story, with creating new accounts for each and planning ahead on when banners come back (though some may be easier like using the 5* ticket for Jeanne in Orleans for example).

It's funny looking back at Shimosa after having watched Samurai Resurrection - which was based on a novel that was one of Nasu's main inspirations for the Fate franchise - how much this chapter feels like a direct homage to it. The story of Samurai Resurrection is basically a Shimabara Rebellion survivor - Mori Soiken in the novel but Amakusa Shiro in the movie - turns to evil sorcery to get revenge on the Shogunate. In the movie version Shiro kills/resurrects Miyamoto Musashi, Hozoin Inshun, Hosokawa Gracia (A historical figure I don't know if Fate will ever touch), Yagyu Munenori, and an Iga ninja the movie invented to carry out various plots and assassinations to delegitimize the Tokugawas and start wide-spread chaos among the peasantry. The movie's hero, Yagyu Jyubei, after finding out about the plot, turns to Muramasa to make a special blade to kill these revenants. He duels and kills Musashi, then goes on to have a final act fight in a burning Edo Castle where he defeats his undead father and Amakusa Shiro himself in succession. It's a just okay 80's B movie really - and I'd assume the novel's probably better - but watching it I couldn't help but imagine the writer sliding the pieces into place to make it work within the context of an FGO Singularity.

This format makes it a lot more epic and coherent. With the short format, I always forget what was going on before and the story gets dragged out so long that it can be boring. Agartha was a slog because of this. Maybe the short format works better for interludes and events, while the long format works better for Singularities/Lostbelts? BTW, the editing was really good too. Salem might be good next because I had to skip that story after a few chapters. It was WAY too long and miserable for me to read. I'd like to know a little bit more about what happened. You could also just skip to Lostbelt 1 though if you want to be able to participate in more events.

Was it two years ago now that F2P Boi’s journey began? Maybe longer than that? I remember commenting early on how I was eager to see how F2P Boi would handle Shimousa, having just struggled through it myself at the time. As was the case with Camelot, F2P Boi did quite a bit better 😅 I’m always happy to see F2P Boi in any form. In terms of revenue, if this format doesn’t do as well as you had hoped, I still really enjoy the shorter doses of F2P Boi that we’d received previously. Whichever format you choose, please keep the SQ counter! It’s a really nice addition. The little chat pop ups were also a good touch. Great video, Grand Editor and Myst! You guys should be proud, regardless of how this performs.
