A lot of people are painting A Friend as a monster, even though he's obviously just a regular guy with his own issues to deal with. My guess is he suffered from a depression and it seems like such an obvious answer for me: He never really socialized in real life, exercise was pretty much non-existent and everything was just Runescape + KZbin in the same room for years. Money was probably the least of his worries, and he's had a whole bunch of that sweet KZbin-revenue saved up for a long ass time. I mean cmon, he just sat in his house playing Runescape all day. He didn't have any time to spend it! He fell in love with his girlfriend and it was a good chance to turn everything around. He was going to move to another country forever and was probably looking for a way out of the unhealthy lifestyle. What a better way to start the new life, than getting an instant 40-100k payout. I obviously understand where all the hate is coming from, but I still cannot blame him. He never claimed to be saint, he just wants to be a happy person like all of us. I wish you well, Dovydas, and thanks for entertaining me for years!

Right from the start he told everyone he was in it for the money. He never enjoyed spending so much time playing Runescape, he merely did it for the big pay cheques. Of course he would jump on the opportunity to make a huge amount of money, knowing it would jeopardize his career. I'm sure now he is realizing that even though he is permanently banned, he still makes ad revenue from previous videos, and was given 40K+ to end his dreadful cycle of wake up, play Runescape, go to sleep, repeat. Sure it might have killed his reputation, but he couldn't have gotten out of this cycle in any better way financially.

He decided to close it later. Safe to say that was the exact moment when his downfall started. Let's not forget how his content changed alot too after his first HCIM death.

Correlation is not causation. He also died on his HCIM, his longest running series by far. Even though he started from scratch again, he hasn't uploaded since, suggesting he simply has no more motivation left. I look at it this way: - He invested a LOT of time and effort over many years and didn't get paid for most of it. - His biggest accomplishment sorta (HCIM) died, and he lost motivation because he knew there was no way he could really compete. - He got a GF (pus has power over you gamers) and lost more interest - Exit strategy: Sell your gold, do some RWT stuff, make as much money off your investment and "sell out" of it (including doing ads etc.), move to Holland and live a more interesting life than rotting away infront of the computer. Now only god knows, is he happy? did his gf stab him and run away with the money? Only Dovydas and god knows for sure.

On all his new videos he always mentions his girlfriend including in his livestreams. I feel like when he finally does move to the NL and lives with his girlfriend of 7 months that he's going to realize that it wasn't the best move. That being said, I don't think it's the best move for him to be playing RS for 16 hours either. But you have to find balance in shit and I don't think A Friend can do that considering the last 6 years of his life has been about engorging himself in anything he does.

"So let's go back to late 2004, where Dovydas was introduced to Runescape. 3 years later on May 13th 2009 the Eraser Gaming KZbin channel was created." I know some stuff was said between those 2 statements but without mentioning any other dates in there, it's kind of confusing.
@kneli1076 жыл бұрын
Why? He played runescape for a while and started making videos about it a few years later, which is the first moment you're getting information about him.
@thugai81506 жыл бұрын
@@kneli107 Why does he say that Dovydas created his channel "3 years later" if there is no mention of anything that took place 3 years before that? He mentions that he started playing in 2004 and then doesn't mention any other dates until he says that 3 years later the Eraser Gaming channel was created. Him saying it would make sense to me if either he said that he created his channel 5 years later or if he mentioned something that happened in 2006.
@kneli1076 жыл бұрын
Oh wow I didn't even notice the discrepancy of the dates (3 years after 2004 is not 2009). Missed that part I guess! So nvm.

late 2004 played RS, May of 2009 (early 2009 basically it is 3 years and some months)
@thugai81506 жыл бұрын
Let's be generous and say late 2004 means December of 2004. One month after that it would have been 2005. Then there's still 4 years to get to 2009 and May is the 5th month so that's 4 and a half years at minimum.

He said he needed the money for himself and his girlfriend, but not that he was sorry that the money he was getting was in exchange for a website scamming all his viewers and taking their money. Sure Jagex cared about the rwt implications, but the website itself was basically designed to scam people for thousands of dollars, like most gambling sites, and it was fishy as hell. A Friend clearly doesn't care about his subscribers beyond his ability to profit off them.

well maybe he should've kept that money instead of spending 10k's here and there on RS3 accounts that he's never going to play on after getting all 99s ... Frivolous spending.

Once thing I enjoy about a friend is his honesty. He’s been honest to the viewers from The start. Sure, he made really bad wrong turns, but honestly he doesn’t deserve that. Despite all the negatives, he did genuinely work hard to release videos even if there was no content available. Worked 16 hours a day, sacrificed the rest of his time to make sure he was financially stable. Literally nothing wrong with that. The whole RS community is already cancerous, it’s going to be hard to get out of this one but I’m behind him

lawlestest lol it has nothing to do with being a sheep. This dude literally put his life on hold for years just so he can make an income and provide any kind of content to his viewers. He doesn’t deserve the punishment he’s getting from the community and from Jagex’s shitty team. Sure he deserves some kind of discipline, but not this.

Ive been friends with Dovydas and his siblings for several years, not in real life, but online. I can personally tell you guys that I know Dovydas well enough that he would never become a scammer or anything decieving of the sort. I never met his girlfriend to say anything about her or them being together, however if I needed money to see the potential love of my life and I was offered $40K or more to make a single video advertising something that I didnt agree with in order to be with that person, I may take that opportunity as well. Its easy to say that its selfish and bullshit, but when brought with the opportunity, it could be tempting. I dont judge him or hold anything against him for it because I cant blame him. Any other situations, like him giving money to scammers, I dont know enough about to say anything so Im going to defend my friends while speaking the truth.

everyone forgets about his dark bow scandal that he did. he bought 1,000s of dark bows hoping to merch them but they just went down in value massivesly, he then made a video stating his was merching dark bows which made the price rise due to his influence in the community. During this time there was also a wishing well in the game that players could give gold up and a Jagex would donate money to a charity based on the amount given. A friend then stated that he was accepting donations to put into the wishing well but what he eneded up doing was keeping all the donations given to him and instead putting his failed merched dark bows inside the wishing well. essiantally scamming his viewerbase because he failed a merch. players thought there were donating there money to chairty but what they really did was indirectly buy incorrectly overpriced dark bows. I made a commentating saying he should lose his P-mod status for this and low and behold he lost it a few weeks later.

You got a few things wrong. First of all, A Friend didn’t get banned after his first stake.com video. He made one about a month earlier that received a ton of backlash. After taking the video down and apologizing that he will never do it again, he did it again. Along with that, he then took that huge ad revenue from the stake.com site rumored to be around $60k USD. That’s where he got banned for RWT. And before the whole RWT incident, you never mentioned the situation with his girlfriend. She kicked all of his longtime friends out of his in-game clan chat and demodded all of them. His reaction? “Fuck you guys I do what I want.” Then when the clan chat caught wind of this, he closed the chat down indefinitely. He did all of this because his girlfriend was jealous that he had another girl modded in his clan chat.

I think we all asked too much of him. Demanded more and more content. demanded each video to be better than the last. eventually 16 hours a day took its toll. we exhausted him, milked him dry and it was killing him. he saw an easy way out and took it. I think we need to go easy on him. because we all did this to him. at one point he was everyone's favorite content creator. we can't just dump him after we killed him and brought him to his lowest point. I'm happily giving him a second chance

@Benjy Warren well see that's where the problem lies...his fans/viewers and basically the entire osrs community has given him a second chance already. and even a third. At what point should we draw the line? The reason he keeps doing it is because he wasn't being punished at all. Just slaps on the wrist whilst he makes thousands and thousands of dollars on his viewers expense. Jagex seen it....which is why they punished him. I honestly felt like they did that just for the community and his fans because we have no way of actually punishing him other than not watching videos...and it's hard for fans to not watch a video he posts. Dislikes do not affect his income so it really doesn't do any good to dislike his videos other than it's just a visual of how his fans feel about what he's doing.

I got unfairly banned by a mod,after two years I found the guy and started talking to him. He admitted to banning me unfairly and thought it was funny all my hard work and money went down the drain and that he was gonna get my current account banned. He admitted to hacking it beforehand. Well lucky me I screen shot every thing,and jagex had recordings of it,he got banned and removed from his spot. I think what made him mad was that I had killed the green dragon at level 33,with my 55 magic and had leveled up my fishing and mining to the 70's. Think he was mad that my overall stats were better then his lol. Haven't logged into that account in years since jagex gave it back to me
