Killing the bird is like killing his innocence. A childhood dream was crushed, even before the disqualification. Boundaries were not respected all the time. Second: you heard the name Appie’ .. this is the name of one of his best friends: Appie mussa: he is the person who was inside the bird on Eurovision. The onion is from a story Joost once told and people just love that story. When he was sick as a child, his parents used to put an onion next to his bed, cause it helps with the cold. But Joost really loved onions so he would end up eating the onion. The next day his parents would say to him: "Joost! Don't eat the onion!!" And now people keep saying: "Don't eat the onion!" So it's just a joke at this point😊 If you look at the hot air balloon in the end shot, it's an onion😁
