I am officially dead. Jorah was one of my favorite GoT characters. Jorah Mormont was the most loyal, devoted, brave and loving man there could be. I knew he would die protecting Daenerys for a long time -- and that's how, I'm sure, he'd prefer to die -- but I had a tiny hope he'd last to see Dany on the Iron Throne (or die getting her there, whether successfully or not). His fate is so tragic. He was first exiled from home, then exiled by the woman he loved most, went on a couple of suicide missions to get back to her, acquired a deadly sickness while doing so, went through hell and back to survive the disease, and then returned to Dany to die saving her. At the same time, he always watched her being with someone else. Damn, if I was Dany, I'd choose Jorah in a heartbeat. I'll miss Jorah and these two so much. I kinda can't even watch Jon Snow scenes at this time, leave alone Snow + Dany. It seems so forced and out of nowhere.
Now, all but one of my favorite characters are dead, and all the others will soon be on their way to kill the last one (assuming Baelish is dead, though I love the theory about him being alive. why else would they show him giving a - Braavos? - coin to a random girl)
Anyways, hope you enjoy the video, and I'm always here to discuss how fantastic Ser Jorah Mormont is.

3:22 - I never noticed that before until now. Jorah actually motioned with his mouth " I love you" before he died. Great eye in catching that! I think I was so upset by this scene that I totally overlooked this. If Jorah lived, he would've kept Daenerys centred and prevented her turn to madness. Also, we could've used better writers for Season 8. Just saying...

She went mad because she found herself alone. She wouldn’t have gone mad if he had lived. She also would have ended up on the iron throne if he had lived. She would’ve redeemed her father if he had lived. And I know all of that sounds boring and too much like a fairy tale, but she definitely deserved better than what she got. Jorah would have made sure that she end up with a glorious, beautiful, and happy ending. Jorah and Daenerys forever! I ship them always.

I'm so envious of this man. Isn't this what every man truly wants? To go out fighting for his true love? I do. Maybe one day I'll be fortunate enough to do so. One of the greatest love stories ever.

Hope you mean it figuratively. Take it from someone who is living through a war, there's nothing romantic about literal fighting. Even when it's for the higher good and out of necessity (in my case, if we don't fight = we die), dying, killing, and losing your loved ones is a tragedy rather than an epic romantic tale as the movies portray it to be. In the end, Jorah died for the woman who never chose him. Jorah is an amazing character though, definitely one of my favorites in the GoT.

@@miacoopers Thanks so much for your response. Yes this is more figurative than actual. I guess I envy the role of Jorah and his ability to fight to his last for the woman that he's loved since the beginning. But to actually go to war and to kill or be killed is entirely different story. However, coming from someone who is fortunate enough now to live in a place where war is not happening up and down my street, If someone came into my home with the intent to hurt me or my family, than yes, I would gladly kill or be killed for the safety of my loved ones. This would be the only parallel I could draw which gets me a little closer but not to the reality you live in. I pray that each day finds you safe and that this will pass sooner than later.

@@miacoopers The "I"m hurt" is when he first falls, before you see Daenerys on the ground with him -- the two words are audible, though faint. He's trying to say something else immediately before he dies, when she's holding him. It probably is "I love you."

Angry Nerd thanks! Awww, she sees what she closed her eyes to all this time. Damn. Why do we often realize these things when it’s too late? I just hope there will be at least an episode without her romantic interactions with Jon, and I hope - while she’ll put it aside to lead people and fight - she’ll take her time to grieve and realize that it’s been Jorah all along. I mean, it’s GoT, so I guess “been Jorah all along” in this case means her realizing the strength of his love and understanding she cared for him too. Perhaps not in a Jon Snow/another male love interest way, but not purely friendly. I actually don’t remember Dany ever crying after killing Drogo. Even when she lost her son, she didn’t actually cry. Maybe I’m forgetting something, but I remember her crying only when she needed to put Drogo out of his misery and leave.

Jorah has always been my favorite character so it is with great joy I learned of the alternate ending of the last episodes. Jorah finally figures out she is bat wing crazy. He works with Tyrion and Varys to put Jon Snow on the throne instead. There is a point where blind loyalty and unrequited love become ridiculous even for such a convincing actor as Iain Glen. Since the writers were going to exile him to the Night's Watch instead of restoring him as Lord Mormont of Bear Island, I am glad they killed him when they did. He always deserved better then he received.

I think he's better off dying for the love of his life. I cannot see Jorah, with all his love for her, working against her. And at the same time, he's too sane to stand by her when she gets mad. The whole situation would mentally kill him. He was willing to die so many times for her. I am glad he died protecting her, being mourned in her arms, with her crying and clearly showing she cares. Including all other illogical and stupid things of the finale, it's best he didn't live to see the end.

You did a great service to a supreme characrer in Got, Mia. Your video evoked in me what I loved about the series, as well as the remembered revulsion at its insane ending. Honestly, D and D, the Directors, had no compass left to steer the ship. If George Martin, ends the series with a similar end for Danny, my blood instinct is that he has lost the thread too. Jorah/Iain had such heart and I believe he probably actually carried it in real life for Emilia. I saw an interview where he said he didn't like socialising /parties much that the other actors/staff went on, adding that he and Emilia mainly just hung out together. That was before the public knew she had brain aneurysms. So another reason he was actually standing by her in real life. So yeah. Much Love. Great characterisation. A very believable love attraction in the series, whereas nothing could have been more woodener than Jon with Danny. Chemistry zilch. With Jorah, aplenty. In the end, that is what sees us through. Cannot be hid. xx

When Dany was buying the Unsullied Jorah said to her and Sir Baristan that people die in war. Jorah was a warrior. I think he would have stood by her no matter what. Civilians have died in war from the beginning of time til now. I don't think he would have liked her killing the civilians, but there was never ANY hint in the entire series that he would not have stood by her.
