Super glad I found your channel. KZbin keeps recommending me channels that review YA and contemporary and I just want blood, guts, and gore. Found fantasy KZbinrs and Sci-fi KZbinrs, but man, it wasn't as easy to find horror. I feel like I have to dig like crazy to find good horror novels and horror is my one true love, but it is a genre plagued with really bad books and movies. A genre only a mother could love kind of deal. Nice to have some help in my never ending search for some good reads.

So many good recs! I adore Tananarive Due after reading The Good House last month. I’m so glad you enjoy her as well. I am definitely going to read her whole catalogue because her writing is fantastic. If you haven’t read Toni Morrison’s Beloved I think you would enjoy it. I kept thinking of it while reading The Good House. It deals with some of the same themes such as grief, familial drama/trauma, and the supernatural.

Devil's Wake is definitely a cool idea. Although, the idea of people turning into literal monsters because of a disease kind of reminds me of a short story by Joe Hill in the 20th Century Ghosts collection that has this kid turn into a bug and wreaks havoc in the town and school. Although, it wasn't a disease that turned him into an insect, as far as I know. You don't really get an explanation as to why/how it happened but it's just a short story so. :P It's called You Will Hear the Locust Sing. It's weird but it's also my favorite story in the collection because of how off the wall it is.

So first of all I'd like to say that I love your channel, your energy, and your dope ass glasses/lipstick each video. You're great! But I also want to thank you for making these videos about black authors in the way that you do. Of course books by authors of color get less traction than books by their white counterparts, so I'm always happy to see them highlighted; but whenever booktubers make videos highlighting black authors they do it as if they're trying to reach a quota or like they have a gun to their heads. They dont seem interested in the content and half the time I dont believe that they've even read/intend to read the novels they they've clumsily summarized. You, on the other hand, always seem so genuine in your interest and love of the books you talk about. Not because you're trying to get brownie points, but because you're actually...interested lol Thanks for not making these videos with the level of commitment of a 14 year old forced to do a book report on an assigned reading novel he plans to just read the cliff notes for.

The Between sounds interesting and possibly something I should give a try because one of the aspects of this is that the main character has nightmares that make him afraid to go to sleep and I know what that's like, I used to have nightmares ALL the time and it got to a point where I was afraid to go to sleep because I knew I'd have a nightmare. I mean, the nightmares that keep him from sleeping are probably more involved than that but still. You get what I mean, right? :p
