Jordan 8 - Sunday River Maine

The Jordan 8 is a high speed 8 passenger chairlift at Sunday River Maine. It replaces an older high-speed quad from 1994, and travels at a blazing 1,181 feet per minute (6 meters per second). It currently has the (unofficial) title of fastest chairlift in all of New England. Keep in mind that there are other lifts in the East that can in fact run faster, but are slowed down to accommodate / adjust their operation speed from day to day operations. Because of this, Jordan 8 is currently the fastest lift on the east coast! The lift also features heated seats, custom red bubbles, doppelmayr direct drive, and a re-elevated summit to withstand wind.
When the original quad was installed, it was part of the largest expansion on the east coast when constructed. Serving 3 direct trails and the Jordan Grand Hotel, Jordan Bowl is well known across the mountain as a large and spacious place for crowds to spread, and disperse across. Generally speaking, some of the best terrain on the mountain is located here. Rogue Angel and Lollapaloza are always skiers favorites.

I got the chance to ride it just last weekend and it sure is nice. The red bubbles look great from the outside but aren't especially practical since they make your eyes adjust. I was blinded by the sun after riding with it down. It's funny how the terminal buildings aren't completely finished yet. The same happened with the Kanc quad reinstall at loon. The top attendant hut was having the siding put on last Thursday lol. Seems these fancy new lifts can't be completely installed and polished in one summer. They are sill great and much needed improvements.

Probably b/c of wind, or mechanical issues. If you went earlier in the season it probably was a mechanical issue, while if you went later it was probably wind.
