I started the Past Authering fully prepared to vent. I discovered instead that I had way less to complain about and more to be grateful for.

Yes tbh I think thats how I feel also. It seemed to so bad and unbearable when it happened but now that I think about it, much more worse could’ve happened.

I think the fact you are willing to discuss what you deem to be insufficient about yourself with another Witness (Person) makes you brave. This was an awesome talk!!!!

Great point. Jordan is a pleasure to listen to. Highly intelligence and I feel ive learnt something evertime I listen to him. That the secret of being a good interviewer, many fail, but have a few good question then let the person talk, and when you want clarity on a certain points wait until they finish and ask. Sooo sooo many people get it wrong, I think its because there ego gets in the way.

39:27 I´ll be happy to answer that... it´s because not all the answers to our problems will be solved individually, there are certain aspects that need to be addressed collectively, institutionally, by policies and companies who are responsible in a more direct manner for the matter. It does not mean you can not contribute locally and individually, but that does not exclude the enormous responsibility from the other side.

Love the comments on other videos about yeah I knew that just did not know how to say it. For instance I have always told my kids do the big jobs first (homework, chores and so on) then the other tasks will be easy compared. Partly easier because you are happy about doing the tough one first. Ties in with him saying bargain with yourself. I never bargained with myself but now I will. I just do it. Does not make for an easy way of doing the big jobs (uncomfortable jobs). Now I think I will work rewards into it for myself.

ABOUT THE TRAGEDY OF BEING. Dear D. I'm glad you got/made such a fine interview. And It goes with out saying (but THIS time it won't) how happy I am that JBP, and his likes, are actually IN this world for you (and your and our likes) to pester with our incessant interviews. About the un-avoidable suffering you cause by your mere being, I have found a little trick, that makes my barbaric, malevolent day ethically and existencially bareble. Being both a biologist and a buddhist, it's obvious to me that 'being' cannot be erased. Even if we try. I firmly believe it CAME 'into being' by it self, and it will keep popping (back) up, given a fair, cosmic chance. So our very being, is just something we will have to learn to live with (the pun is the point!) So what I do, in my buddhist twinkle of an eye, when eating and drinking, is to send a thought or sentiment of gratetude towards the sentient beings, plants, animals or indeed humans, that have suffered in order for me to have this sustenance or pleasure. SURELY SOME soul/consciousness lowered it self into the pre-piglet that grew ardously into my bacon. Perhaps full knowing by karmic choice (as a soul/consciousn.) that it was not neccesarily going to be an ideal, easy life to live. Anyway, SOME soul SURELY did, or my bacon would NOT be there! So karmicly or not, consciously or not, some Thing DID! GOT IT? So the VERY least I can do, is openly to a knowledge and appreciate the suffering done at my unconscious request/behest! At least this suffering, will now NOT have been POINTLESS! IT WILL INDEED HAVE SERVED A HIGHER PURPOSE, namely my survival and even pleasure. And I have heard from women giving labour, that THAT (the presence of a HIGHER purpose) makes ALL the difference in transforming otherwise POINTLESS suffering into bareble or even meaningfull pain. So the sentient beings sacrificing themself to please me, MAY not be 'aware' in advance, but then it is MY bloody duty, to put my gratitude out there for THEIR healing and alleaviation of THEIR suffering. Just like I personally would go quite a distance to draaaag a 'Thank You' , out of anybody, for whom I had done serious work, or suffered servere inconvenience. In order, that I do NOT experiece (un-avoidable) pointless suffering, that could transform into resentment and all other kinds of nasty (read: un-neccessary) karmic straight-jackets. AND THUS IT ALL MAKES A LITTLE MORE SENSE, AND A LITTLE LESS POINTLESS SUFFERING! P. S. As a biologist I know of the 'screaming tomatoes' discovered in the 80'ties, so to me going vege or vegan, is a 'species identity politics pseudo solution' (that only animals suffer) , just 'putting all the greef on the greenery'.

Fantastic questions! I’ve found Peterson more than anyone else will not stop the train of thought before getting to the deepest underlying point of reason possible. When the explanation for each issue is complete it makes the ideas less foggy in mind and I do not need to hold them there wanting to revisit.

Look at it like a trade off. What is it that you need to do. Then think what 'price' you would charge someone for you to do it. If some nutter went into a shop and said they'd pay 1penny (or cent or whatever smallest unit of currency it is for you) for a big fat high end TV, the shop owner would (politely) tell them where they can stick that penny. You have a product, you need to negotiate a price for that product. If you can't pay any price for that product willingly and voluntarily - it stands to reason that you can't afford that product (yet). So you start with a smaller product that you can afford. After some time trading with yourself, you'll have more personal 'wealth' to afford more expensive products. Honestly I'm surprised nobody has replied to you in a month

Yes walk outside and look around at all the things humans built that give us all such wonderful freedom and security and ability, including the home you just stepped out of, and realise that MEN built it. Almost without exception men, not women, came up with the thought, the design and engineering, the materials and the skilled labor to build it all. Because that is what men do. Men build and women are caregivers , as a general rule. That is just the way we are. And nothing wrong with it. Nothing at all.

I reach out mainly using email and linked-in. It is amazing to see who responds at times. 9 times out of 10 you will not get an email back by people such as JP but in the past I have gotten email replies (for advice not an interview) from Seth Godin, Paul Graham and Guy Kawasaki. It helps if you can offer them something such as a large audience.

I feel Jordan Peterson as a psychologist big time. And I plan to start the self-authoring program. But, politically, I feel ever since Jordan Peterson joined the Daily Wire, he has become incredibly not careful or nuanced with his words...more like his words are looking to create controversy like all the other talking heads. Most notably when he called Elliot Page's surgeon 'criminal'. Or at the Hoover Institute how he said about climate alarmism 'You no idea how many people this is killing' when talking about how to fight climate change because it demoralizes the youth...yeah that's different from killing. It's bad but not the same. It's like how the woke left catastrophizes about police killings against black people when police kill only a few hundred black people a year out of 30 million or so, which is tragic, but still much more the exception than the rule.

Doing this turned out to be horribly depressing. I spent over a week giving it real thought and writing a lot. After struggling to get past all the u realistic stuff I wanted and sort out a realistic ideal life for myself I diligently mapped out how to get there. The problem is that after I completed it I was left utterly unmotivated and depressed. My realistic ideal life was true and clear, and the way to obtain it reasonable and perfectly achievable. But it turns out that even my ideal life is too rubbish to actually motivate me at all. Its not good enough. Its not enough for me.
@someonesomeone25
@someonesomeone25 3 жыл бұрын
@McoParkour I'm not sure you read my comment correctly. My realistic goals Im working towards and they're no real problem, but they aren't meaningful or satisfying enough for me. But my true desires are, well, unrealistic. They are impossible to ever accomplish. Which kind of left me demotivated and depressed after going through the process to figure out what my heart truly desires to know that it wants the impossible.
@MegaMerdeux
@MegaMerdeux 3 жыл бұрын
You're feeling crappy because now you're aware of all the things you need to sort out. Look at it as a chance to improve, and that's the first step. Being aware of your flaws, start small.
@someonesomeone25
@someonesomeone25 3 жыл бұрын
@@MegaMerdeux Not really. I feel bad because even after I solve all the issues I need to, and which I will likely resolve over the next 2 years, my life will still likely be miserable, boring and meaningless. Basically, even the best the life I can realistically achieve is not what I truly desire, nor will it satisfy me. Reality is dull and meaningless and miserable.
@SMSBJM1981
@SMSBJM1981 3 жыл бұрын
@@someonesomeone25 Hi, I will chime in, hoping it might have a chance to help. First, you say you will likely be miserable. What if you worked at it, got there in 2 years, and do feel better. You are already dismissing how you will feel in the future based on how you feel in the present. Second, maybe you need loftier goals. Are goals beyond your easily obtainable goals in 2 years. Maybe you need goals that are a compromise. To say that there are either goals that are possible or goals that are not possible is true but also not. It is likely impossible to become a billionaire. But not impossible to be a millionaire. You might well need lofty long-term goals that at present seem impossible, but in 2 years working on the short-term goals, you might see that you are at a new platform to be able to achieve those goals that seemed impossible previously. Third, you might have to accept what you are capable to achieve and be grateful for what you can. Otherwise, you are just suffering. Maybe you need a goal to be grateful for what you can do.
@someonesomeone25
@someonesomeone25 3 жыл бұрын
@@SMSBJM1981 Well, I doubt if I achieve what I can now achieve I would be happy, because I've had the same of better in the past and was not happy. I know I can't have even a compromise of what I really want because what I truly desire is literally impossible and there is no way to have even half of impossible. As for being grateful, I have tried that but it doesn't remove the desire for better or the current suffering.

Is anyone else surprised that dr.Peterson keeps saying that the horrible events in the soviet union don't exist now and that the world is in better order. It's not even a little bit better, maybe for north americans and Europeans, South Korea and Japan, but most of the world is actually very poor and live under war and many nations suffer extermination based on religion and ethnicity. I'm very surprised that a huge figure like him keeps repeating that!
