Quit my 9-5 job 4 years ago and started a small construction business from scratch. COVID hit and we lost almost everything except the business. We saved our cash and bought 12 raw acres last January and I built a small home on there. My kids love it out here in the woods. The stories are being written on a daily basis. Don’t be fooled, life will definitely be hard sometimes, but when you follow your heart, it makes it all worth while. So thankful to be born in the land of opportunity. ❤️

My momma passed away two days ago listening to this song after a short but intense battle with pancreatic and lung cancer. Thank you for this song, it’s message, and for “being there” with her as she moved on. She lived her life like this song. She had a deep and strong 35 year marriage and best friendship with my dad, she loved God, and treated everyone with kindness and love. I love and miss you Momma 😢❤ RIP Kathryn Zinn ❤

Song really hits home. Third try found the right one at 40. Made my best ever financial move at 51 and bought 50 acres. Retired and built house at 62 and my life has only become better each year. Now 75 and and when out puttering (work), walking the property and checking the things I have done, I am filled with such thankfulness for my place in this life that I am sometimes in awe.

My husband told me to listen to this song. The video is perfect. I cried, both in joy and sadness. We are having it played at our 40th anniversary party - it pretty well tells our story. We "bought dirt" right before we got married in 1982. 40 acres and a run down house. We raised two beautiful daughters plus cows and dogs. The farm has expanded and we have a newer home, but lost our youngest daughter at the age of 29. She would have loved this song to - she was a Luke Bryan fan. The memories from the first years are ever so precious. Thank you Jordan and Luke.

Being a small town country girl, being my dad's sidekick in everything possible from working on old cars, keeping up the land, riding through the country or just sitting at his shop just listening to his life growing up and being in the service. He was a simple man with a heart of gold, worked hard for everything he ever had and was always thankful. He had a stroke and was paralyzed on the left side and then diagnosed with agent orange and fought that battle for more than 8 years and still never complained but we lost him on 12/12/12 and I'm so glad he thought me to love, enjoy and appreciate simple things in life and don't take a second for granted, and when I listen to this song it makes me think of him. I'm getting married Saturday 11th and I want this song played. Jordan Davis you are awesome and I look forward to the many years of your success.

Lyrics 🎶 A few days before he turned 80 He was sittin' out back in a rocker He said, "What you been up to lately?" I told him, "Chasing a dollar" And in between sips of coffee He poured this wisdom out Said, "If you want my two cents on making a dollar count Buy dirt Find the one you can't live without Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground Do what you love but call it work And throw a little money in the plate at church Send your prayers up and your roots down deep Add a few limbs to your family tree And watch their pencil marks And the grass in the yard all grow up" 'Cause the truth about it is It all goes by real quick You can't buy happiness But you can buy dirt Before you get caught on that ladder Let me tell you what it's all about Find you a few things that matter That you can put a fence around And then he laid it out Buy dirt Find the one you can't live without Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground Do what you love but call it work And throw a little money in the plate at church Send your prayers up and your roots down deep And add a few limbs to your family tree And watch their pencil marks And the grass in the yard all grow up 'Cause the truth about it is It all goes by real quick You can't buy happiness But you can buy dirt You can buy dirt And thank the good Lord for it 'Cause He ain't makin' any more of it So buy dirt Find the one you can't live without Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground Do what you love but call it work And throw a little money in the plate at church Send your prayers up and your roots down deep Add a few limbs to your family tree And watch their pencil marks And the grass in the yard all grow up 'Cause the truth about it is It all goes by real quick You can't buy happiness But you can buy dirt

Beautiful and True song. Grew up on farm with seven siblings and parents who were so much in Love. They didn't have lots of money but we never went hungry nor without basic Necessities of life. Raised in a Good Christian/ Catholic Church and schools. Throughout our life we all have had decent lives with our own families. Thanks Dad and Mom for everything y'all did for us. And yes , they would tell us often to buy dirt , Love GOD, family and friends, remember the small and wonderful things in life. Had no tv ac, and stuff that too many people now see as absolutely necessary. But they sometimes don't realize how good life is . This song hits home , memories and all. Parents in Heaven, one brother also,. In my 70's and Loving Life and GOD and family

I lost my Grandfather recently. He was a farmer in Kansas and managed to make a very good life for his family buying dirt. I lost one of my grand-father a while ago, he was 90 and he was born in 1920, so 12 years ago ... he also bought land, property, and he was brought up in a very humble environment, his father died at age 31, he couldn't go to high school because of that. I had a great and easy childhood because my parents own a big house he helped pay for, we spend great vacations in a summer apartment he paid for, and my mother and auntie have a good retirement because of the rent. I owe him a lot, my grandma was amazing as well, but I should be very grateful he bought dirt a long time ago ...

During one of the most difficult times in my life my Best Friend was saving my life and he showed me this song. I put myself back together, got closer to my parents, the woman I love, and our family. I made promises to do better, be respectable and responsible and we bought our own Home in January 2022. I was on top of the world. Then, we lost Mom in Oct 2022 after 6 long years of watching her fight to breathe(copd). Dad fought hard to beat the cancer while we watched it consume his body. He found Jesus, but still struggled every day missing his best friend and the love of his life. We just lost him the end of May 2023. They were both such great parents, and wonderful people in general. In one way or another they both taught me how truly important everything in this song is. Man, I miss them so much. I know they both would be so proud of me, I just wish I could show them who've they raised me to be and share this with them. 💔🥺💖

Dutch trucker here, Started to listen to country a few years ago. Rhythm is always nice when hauling through Holland and its surrounding countries. There was a moment I ran in to this song, I fell in love, had goosebumps all over me. The lyrics are very, very touching. Learning to find happiness in life is something that not a lot of people can experience. I my self have had a very troubled childhood and growing up with divorced parents at young age causes me to make a lot of stupid decisions in life. Choking up as I write this, I started to learn to find happiness in my early twenties, trying to surround myself with people that care. It's important to know that we need to remember our own roots, where we come from and where our hearts lay. Life is never easy and things are always unpredictable, but learning to live life day by day and enjoying every moment you have, can make a difference within a week, a month or even a year.

I love this. My husband and I bought our first house on a small piece of land with a couple of acres. We moved from a suburban life and have 2 kids who are 7. We want them to know the importance of hard work and happiness from within and from your own hard work. We want them to see through us you can make your own dreams come true. We are putting a fence around it as we speak and making all of these wonderful plans to live our best life. This song really touches my heart and my life. It’s really amazing to see all the things we strive for our children and ourselves can happen. We don’t have all the money in the world but my goal is to be their mama and work hard to know I did what I was called here to do.

If we would just live life like this song we'd all be alot happier. Those material things in life mean nothing in life. In the end its what you pass on to others and how you treated people that makes you who you are. Peace out 🙋‍♂️

Heard this song on radio just 5 mins ago, searched it right away. and it is exactly what i needed at the moment and something to carry throughout my life. no other song can tell you this precise that how beautiful life is and how important it is to get rid of unnecessary burden of negative thoughts and overthinking and live it peacefully. thank you for the masterpiece.

@@Aish24102 when my mother passed away and I was en route to my parents house about 20 miles out the song " give heaven some hell " came over the radio. First time i'd ever heard it, brought me to tears, had to pull over and straighten myself out before seeing my dad. Pretty good song. Thanks again, have a great day!.

Just my two cents: the first time I heard this song, I bawled like a baby. I share it every time I get a chance, because the whole world needs to hear it, and remember the important things in this one life we get.

I served 25 years for our country. So I got a late start. But took everything I saved for those years and did exactly what this song describes. I loved serving our country but nothing beats running and playing with your children in your own yard.

I just have to say, this song brings it all right back to the start of life and where and when times were good. For decades now, "they" have been selling us via TV commercial's and radio ad's, a way of life that just is satisfying as they make it out to be. This song explains where it is, and if we want real happiness, we have to work for it, not buy it. No expensive toy, house or whatever will satisfy our desire for peace and happiness, only our family and hard work can do that. HOOAH!!!

Find the one you can't live without Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground Do what you love but call it work And throw a little money in the plate at church Send your prayers up and your roots down deep Add a few limbs to your family tree And watch their pencil marks And the grass in the yard all grow up Amazing lyrics. Simple but timeless. God bless y'all.
