I always find the “why did they wait until now to prosecute him?” It’s too easy of a cop out for MAGA supporters. Other than delay tactics by his legal team, they literally needed to find hard evidence and witnesses willing to testify to build a case that they can win. The onus is on the prosecution to prove he’s guilty. Imagine if they did rush into indictments. The excuse would be “look at how they are rushing it through. Clearly they are doing this for political reasons. No one would indict when they don’t have witnesses or evidence.” They took the safe road and took their time. Trials getting dragged from months to years are pretty normal. For them to take their time to do so. Judging by his presidency, he will likely get his AG to say he’s can’t be charged because he’s the sitting president so yes, now is the right time.
