That’s the issue with ultra conservatives: they’re raised to be patriotic af, and since strong patriotism relies on an unshakable belief in one’s own country, anyone who questions that belief is automatically seen as unpatriotic and evil by them… Even though the ability to question basic narratives is an absolute necessity, now more than ever. Of course, some of them see themselves as being able to do so (tinfoil hats), but really they only ever do so when it fits their narrative, and never do it in any sensical way (read: using one source as fact when a thousand more speak against it)
