That o-line could get a good RB to 1000 yards easily but Barkley brings a completely different skill set and could get to 2000 just because he is so hard to stop once he reaches the secondary

Jordan Mailata was a great 7th round pick. He was a "project" everyone thought might make the practice squad but he did so great as a pre-season rookie, they gave him a roster spot.

I think it supports that sometimes it’s easier to teach someone who knows nothing, got no good habits but also no bad technique to unlearn. Only NFL he knew was from the blindside, and only knew RT/LT because someone said it’s the position he plays in the movie lol. But most credit goes to Jordan and eagles, thanks Philli for welcoming to the community and giving him a chance and supporting him so far from home. One of the most underrated ambassador’s for Australia, (along side Paddy Mills too), and makes me thankful and proud having him see Australia as home, and shows everything bad about Australia government if hasn’t been made a official citizen. Despite being born in Australia, it’s disgusting finding out last year the Australian government doesn’t recognise Jordan officially as a oz citizen. No doubt if eagles win the superbowl or makes all star, it will be fixed quickly and government will go out of their way to claim him then and show him off. Sure Jordan would agree that two things worse about Australia is the government and media, and both are no longer respected and have both lost most credibility and respect, but they have the greatest voice and protection. Legally you not allowed to embarrass the government or report misconduct to the UN without risking going to jail, especially if you have proof and right about it.

The truly unique part of Mailata's development is that because he never played American football he never learned any bad habits along the way in high school or college where he would have been able to dominate without being skilled. His first introduction to NFL blocking fundamentals and skills was at the NFL International Player Pathway academy. He wasn't getting questionable coaching at different levels and ages along the way. He went straight into real professional coaching... and then he ended up at Stoutland U. When you have Jeff Stoutland teaching a guy how to do all the stuff the right way from scratch with no prior knowledge or coaching to screw him up, you end up with a guy who becomes a teaching tape for every other OT out there. Soutland U is real. In the 50 years before he became the Eagles OL coach in 2013 the Eagles had 14 Pro Powl OL. From 2013-2023 they have had 23 (that doesn't count alternates, just guys voted in as starters).

As an Eagles fan I was drawn to rooting for Mailata from the very start because of his story. A lot of people like to point to the fact that he was a 7th round pick and talk about what a great value that is now that he's developed into one of the best OT's in the league. While that's true, I think it's also important to note that he was essentially a red shirt for his first two full seasons. So for an investment perspective, it's not as simple as his draft position. The Eagles took an incredibly long view with him by letting him take up a valuable roster spot for that long while believing that it would pay off eventually. I like that my team is capable of executing that kind of long term plan.

Mailata's weight is wrong; he's 380, not 365. Three years ago, he returned to his home in Australia, and his weight went to 400 lbs. He feels better at 380 than 365 because he said he feels weak at 365.

Rugby League players are taught how to wrestle an opposition player in a tackle. Not to the extreme as full on wrestling on mat or ufc. Hes was doing it tackling players in full speed...so you can see how he stands out in the NFL having had expeience other NFL tackles dont have.

@@ljnouata9088 blocking definitely. But his athleticism and footwork for his size was honed on the rugby league under 20's field. It also gives a different rugby league flavour to how he plays/blocks might seem small but it all adds up. His learnt habits are rugby league as seen in walking to the ref after getting in a push and shove, several classic rugby league tackles after an intercept, playing on until the ball is dead, etc. and muscle memory

Mailata is awesome. when I watch him I know the only thing he struggles with now is a pass rusher with speed that can transition in to power in to speed. that guy that is fast enough to threaten him outside where he has to over set. The the inside counter-move be it power that Jordan can handle , usually . he has gotten much better at this year. but the outside speed to fake to power to inside speed has given him trouble. Last year it did anyway. This year , not so much. Stoutland just keeps coaching him up and he just keeps getting better and better at countering the counters.. If Howie didn't have him , already, locked up through his age 31 season in 2028 I'd would think he really should have been coming off a contract year next year for 28+mil/yr. yet he is locked up for an insane 18-19mil/yr. cause the Eagles recognized early how good he could be and locked him down, super extra early .

Yes it is, just because we tend to call rugby league "league" and rugby union "rugby" or "union" in Australia doesn't change the fact that they are both forms of rugby, obviously. Rugby league literally formed as a breakaway from rugby union, allowing players to be paid and making rule changes to make the game more entertaining.

Lions O-LINE, RB DUO, AND DEFENSE IS BETTER. How can the eagles be better playing bum teams, that’s the only reason you can’t get away with a slow start. You see what happened starting slow against baker, you got baked. Lions have 500 more yards rushing on better teams. Y’all on Eagle dust.

Do you know how stupid this sounds? They have beaten the Ravens, Commanders, Steelers, and Rams just in the past five weeks. The o-lines are a push--hell, PFF has Mailata as the top tackle in the game, eye test included. Barkley is only about 100 yards behind the combined total of Gibbs and Montgomery. If you add in Hurts running, since he is like a RB anyway, the Eagles Barkley/Hurts is about 400 yards more than Gibbs/Montgomery. The Eagles right now have the best defense in the league. I just hope the Bills don't have to play them in the Super Bowl. We are 0-4 against the NFCE in Super Bowls.

@ Barkley running on shitty run defense, what he do against the Steelers. The Steelers can only score kicking, commanders look like they not there yet. Rams is so so and they beat GB wk 1, that wouldn’t happen again. Not to mention the team not together and the panthers were a catch away from winning. They just like the Vikings but I think even they are better than Philly.
