Can't agree more, it's upsetting that this is not more known, and that people won't even give it a go because they think JP is any of the idiotic pejorative names people call him, best wishes to anyone who enjoys this and is trying to spread it. I like to think that by doing that we are trying to reduce the suffering. "What do you do it the face of that suffering... TRY TO REDUCE IT"
@underscoreblank3 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-ur1io I’ve never heard of any of the negative stuff said about him unless he directly addressed it in a lecture or podcast. Whatever news and journalism sources are out there that cover him negatively, I don’t hear of it. There’s nothing I’ve ever heard him say or write that even remotely comes close to being harmful for humanity. He’s an academic and he’s good at what he does. That matters to me.
@Kelkhatan3 жыл бұрын
He gives power to the human being - the system cannot have that. He aims to make people independent... That's why everyone who thinks about what he says can disagree, but remains humble in the face of so much knowledge put into action. The critics hate him for making people think...
@okami4253 жыл бұрын
@@Kelkhatan they don’t like him for the same reason they didn’t like was it, Socrates, I believe it is. He was running around telling the youth to be individuals and not just sheep for the state from what I understand, and the senate didn’t like him undermining their authority. “Sooooo off with his head”. thankfully they can’t actually do it to Peterson though. (I’m no historical expert so I reserve the right to be wrong).

@@underscoreblank Peterson speaks truth in a world full of lies. He is a light in the dark. Someone of sufficient intellect and temperament is finally standing up to the powers that be. I agree with your original premise that Akira is probably underestimating his contribution. Peterson puts on a master class for marking a logical argument. In order to actually "move someone", to convince them, to change their mind, you have to also appeal to emotion. Akira is assisting Peterson here with these musical backdrops. These are absolutely wonderful.

Akira, I will forever hold the objective opinion that this track is your Magnum Opus. The lyrics you sing in it are so small yet perfectly fitting and the way you cut audio from his lecture and mix it in so well and the sound effects, especially when you build up those guitar type sounds into an absolute frenzy. And the greatest reason is the content of what is said is the single most IMPACTFUL lecture for living a life of meaningful suffering. Thank you so much for doing this, I am going to purchase so much of your shit to pay you back for the inpact of this single track. Seriously this music is literally capable of saving lives and I have never felt more proud to support it.

The part where he says "Which one do you want? Well, ask yourself - which one are you pursuing? And you'll find very rapidly that it isn't the majority of your soul that's pursuing the whole meaning thing..." - you really hit it home! Jesus - if that ain't a wake up call, I don't know what is. I listen to this song/speech about once a month. I don't plan to, it just happens. My father is nearing the end and so is my mother and I think it galvanizes me to not internalize that concept into suppressing what's going on to the point I ignore the end of their lives. Probably stops me from lashing out like a 40 year old child too making these last few years of theirs worse. I'm trying my best to be positive and present for my entire family and yes even my idiot brother. If all I help accomplish is the family stays together after my parents pass instead of us siblings just going our separate ways then so be it. That'll be worth it. Thanks.

Hello Akira! I have no idea if you'll be able to see this but I thought I should let you know because of the huge impact your work had on my life. I came across your work from Dr. Peterson's podcast around mid-2020. I'm mainly an acoustic, guitar-indie-type-of-girls. I rarely adventure into any synthetic sounds but I knew your work had the exploratory depth in it that I lacked. Around October 2021 I downloaded your JBP and Theo albums and a few of my other favorite songs. I mainly listened to the JBP albums on my commute to and from the hospital (I'm a medical intern graduating soon XD). I cried publically a few times and it was so embarrassing. But I needed those. In parallel, I was trying to read Dr. Jung's work. A couple of months after I had what I could only call a religious experience. Though not really drug-induced and it was totally "out of the blue" while watching a TV show. I was raised Muslim and was born and live in Algeria, North Africa. At the time I was exploring your work, I already realized how distorted the narrative I've been raised in was. And knew the deepest things I was lacking and struggling with had to do with that. In December 2021, I met (recognized) Christ for the first time in my life. And your work has definitely been a conductor to that moment helping me recognize His voice. A few months ago I met another ex-Muslim believer and it struck me that we have similar experiences even concerning you. Now that I finished typing this, it weirdly feels as if I'm somewhat naked or barefoot. I hope any of it actually makes sense. I just really wanted to say Thank you for all the work you're doing. I wasn't particularly suicidal but your work nonetheless did transform my life

Awesome video. I’ve always had a quibble with Peterson about this. Is Life , suffering? No. Life includes some suffering -- sometimes a lot. Depending on your lot, and your response. But life is also joy. And love. And bliss. And meaning. And Grace. He keeps forgetting about that. Doncha, Bucko.
@MrmeSmiley3 жыл бұрын
One way i like to interpret it like this: The defining aspect of life is suffering. The benefit of this interpretation is that there is enough room for all the beauty of life, since it now also depends upon your attitude towards the suffering of life. All the love, all the power!

I always come back to this one in particular. About a year or so ago my teenage daughter and I hatched a plan, she would show me something she was into and I would show her something important to me. She picked my hero academia, I picked Jordan Peterson amongst others but this banger in particular. Naturally I fell in love with the characters, All Might in particular, and I got to see in real time that we were the same and moved by the same things. Its difficult to see your kids grow up and move away from you, partly because it's so important that they do, and it's harder when they come back as an adult in motion 😅 but as suffering goes, it's a good problem to have.
