All I can say to this topic is just most people you know in your life may turn out to be someone trying to take something from you and nowadays that's usually money. I don't fully agree with MGTOW in every way but I can certainly say that it can take meeting one person to improve your life or by the same token ruin it. I think more of these topics should really be a lesson in trust. There is just a fact that in the dating world you can't trust very many and that's male or female. Sorry, but this is just BS. At age 19 in 1969 I observed the PLAGUE of divorce taking place, which has continued ever since. I decided at that time never to get married or have children. That was not because I saw women as evil, or men as evil, I saw divorce, child custody and child support laws as abusive. I didn't want to take the chance of being ground up by such laws. The risks greatly outweighed the possible benefits. I chose not to smoke tobacco for the same reason. At age 72, that has proven to be one of my best decisions ever.

I went MGTOW after seeing one of my best friends jailed for 3 months on a false accusation from his enraged and abusive wife. She recanted the accusation 4 hours later but the accusation was so vile that they kept him jailed anyway. Then they offered him a deal. They'd either load a jury with blue haired democrat man hating feminsts or they could let him out as a registered sx offender for the rest of his life. So in the spring of 1997 I decided not to marry. Wealth stacked up though and I retired at 54. Now I'm a millionaire. Not that that's a lot these days but it's enough (if I'm careful) to last me the rest of my life.

I love Peterson and his typically rational arguments, but he's completely missed the ball on exactly what drives a MGTOW. It's not about the rejection, it's about investment and return. Men particularly more than women as a demographic, find it easier to find fulfillment in life away from relationships and if relationships become increasingly risky and less rewarding, it's only common sense that it would be a less attractive endeavor. So I could enter a long term relationship at great expense, ultimately sacrificing what amounts to stability and self-sufficiency for what might (or probably wont be, realistically and contemporarily speaking) be an enjoyable long term companionship, or i could continue to be selfish (using the word objectively, from its negative connotations) and enjoy my own time as i am very well entitled to. I'm also not sure Jordan is right about MGTOWs claiming 'all women are like that'. They are making the claim that most women are like that or that at least half of women are like that. It's a cost-benefit analysis: Should I risk my livelihood with the real potential of ending up in a horrific relationship with an SJW, or should I just try to improve myself and find what I enjoy elsewhere in life? I really admire Prof Peterson and I believe he's wildly intelligent, but his wide knowledge is really spread thin and he hasn't done an in depth analysis on MGTOW. The fact is that over the last few decades, western culture has drifted in a direction that strongly favors women over men not just culturally, but also legally. These are FACTS. There is truth in what he says that oftentimes if you keep having bad experiences the issue is you, but he also needs to acknowledge that the playing field has changed drastically, and women are only playing their hand as optimally as allowable given the new rules. The percentage of "good women" has dropped considerably in western society over the last few decades. That's the crux of the MGTOW position. That the percentage has reached a tipping point where it is no longer a +EV proposition to get married. Whether you agree with this or not is debatable, but you have to be an absolute fool to not acknowledge that the average woman has become less moral than their counterparts from the 50s. (To be fair, I believe men have morally degraded as well.)

I tend to agree with your assessment that in relationships if we conjure up an idea that all women or all men are not good then the likely suspect is the conjurer not the object of blame. However, that is not what MGTOW is about. In today's world the laws and family court system have become hateful and very injurious to the lives of men. The problem with this analysis is that it ignores the huge number of MGTOW men who just see marriage in places like the US as being too much of a risk. This particular subject however, is not one of them. I see this a lot with older men who are critical of the younger men of today. You may have heard the phrase "We get the politicians we deserve" as an offhand example. The point is that you can look outward at all of the unfairness and injustice in the world and stay in that state of frustration, or you can choose to grit your teeth and bear it, until such a time when you are in a position to effectively take action against said injustices. Incidentally, you mention the legal and social disadvantages men face - the consensus on this is not going to change with a minority movement comprising of men only. You have to believe that there is good in women, you have to get women on side, despite how anti-thetical it is given you experiences, you have to put faith in the positive feminine archetype to do the right thing and act with grace when the time comes, because what is the alternative? Polarization and misery for all parties involved. The only way you're going to get women on your side is to stun them with your potential and life force. We live in and have evolved to be in a patriarchal society whether we like it or not, and so long as that fact remains true it is up to individual men to be the guiding forces of the future of that society. Men in such societies are instruments of power, it's why there is such a debate over the definition of masculinity (a good observation by Jack Donovan), but that means men have to ascend to be better men in the face of scorn and abuse by women. Feminism is the ultimate shit-test and men are failing it continuously by swearing off dialogue with women.

Peterson was partially right, and partially wrong. A lot of MGTOW ARE men who were burned by women, and they DO teach a dark philosophy, but it isn't about them being burned, and they don't think ALL women are that way. They know from first hand experience what can happen, and they have realized there is no way to mitigate the risk, so they looked at the risk/reward and decided not to do it. MGTOW is also about more than just women, it is an outlook at culture and society in general. Society has a whole "life plan" laid out for men, and MGTOW is about rejecting that entire life plan, not just women. A feminized K-12 education, followed by college and 100k in debt, then a corporate 9-5 wage slave job, then a wife and kids, then a house, then retirement, and when you finally can stop running all day, you are too old to enjoy it. It IS somewhat selfish and narcissistic, in that MGTOW will often prioritize their own enjoyment over society, but a lot of it is just prioritizing what they NEED, and not investing into anything else.

MGTOW is men on Rehab from women. I'm a millennial and much is said on how my generation cares more for the experience of life rather than the material things in it. The fact that a very substantial number of men from my generation sees relationships with women as an experience that is best to be avoided should inspire more inquisitive thoughts than this dismissive accusation of sour grapes. If we should be foolish enough to listen to women when they tell men what's wrong with us we would eventually be driven towards suicide, and in fact many men indeed are driven to such lengths. For 3 generations now women have been telling men that what is wrong with us is our very gender! So excuse us if we do not heed this particular advice of yours. We have grown up in an environment that is insidiously hostile to our gender where our very existence is a cause for offense to women. We are nothing more than the natural evolution to that environment. Self preservation takes precedent above procreation amongst any species. As a psychologist you should know this better than most.

I love JP, but he, like many others, clearly has not looked beyond the the surface of MGTOW. He is basing his evaluation on those still under the influence of the red pill rage. Those that have had the cultural indoctrination stripped from them and have come to the realization that they, as individual men, will always lose out to a woman when conflict arises, even to the point of having their lives torn asunder merely to prop up a woman's emotional state. Yes, most blame women as a collective for this, and when in-group/out-group biases are taken into consideration, that is not an absurd stance to take, but there are many MGTOW that understand that it is certainly not the whole picture. tl;dr It's not all women, it's gynocentrism, and the technological advancements that have removed all the checks upon gynocentrism, that allows all women the *means, motive, and opportunity* to destroy men for personal gain, with little to no consequence.
