I strongly suggest not going through that process in the first place and just listen more than talking. Understanding that such a thing is rare in this world and allowing others to speak the entire time if they won't stop will be recognized at a huge gift which will be reciprocated by the talker if you see them again. If not, you are maturing. One of the reasons why people must keep talking is because of the rarity there is for listening. Most people on operating on a flowchart path where they must battle to be heard and interact with others who don't care about self-improvement so they battle back. Once they meet you starting off listening not going through a shut down process, they'll instantly notice and change before you leave giving both of you a higher quality discussion. Of course, others will abuse your silence which causes them to remain poorly developed as you grow.

I think its good to raise your voice when in a confrontational situation when someone gets in your personal space...it shows you are standing up for yourself. In normal conversation, if you have to raise your voice to talk then it could also mean that you think your not being heard. Some people repeat what they are saying while others raise their voice. Some are just manipulating the situation to later say the person who raised their voice has a "problem" and nothing they did caused that problem. It's all about perspective on what is going on in the situation. Some people just get into debates to win without hearing another persons perspective unless it benefits them.

I know more than at least a hundred times... that I've fell into this emotional trap and just tried to over talk someone, and I hate myself when I do this . Becoming truly objective and self aware was the biggest positive change in my life. Honestly before I was 23 or so when it happened I feel like that me was ALL auto pilot. The truly scaring thing though once you get there is how most people are still stuck in a low self awareness state. Also I have found you cannot have a solid foundation for your reason and logic without an objective self view (because if you cannot separate your ego or at the very least self correct for perceive biases then your foundations are just not there). I really wish these were tough as courses to kids at all levels. You really cannot reason and think correctly without being truly self aware, self objective, and self corrective.

I know this is 3 years on now, but i am really intrigued by your comment "the truly scary thing once you get to becoming truly objective and self aware is how most people are still stuck in a low self awareness state." This makes so much sense to me, so i have to ask: 1. Reading this makes me think a MAJORITY of people are likely NOT objective and self aware, does this make it a little harder over time to continue improving, a little like learning languages and having no one to understand the other language to bounce words off, and 2. Have you ever met another person like you that has done the changes and has become objective / self aware to your degree, and did it feel just amazing being able to discourse with this person due to them understanding exactly where you were coming from? Hope life is good to you. xx
@PartStupid Жыл бұрын
@@Halzel Hey! Thank you, I hope life it good for you as well. As for your questions, yes I suppose the intellectual side of things tends to stagnate or even partially come down to the general level simply due to not having anyone I can have a truly deep conversation with (intellectually deep, not emotionally). As for meeting other people like me, sadly no. I do not get out much and do not meet a lot of people, but those I do meet usually at best are very smart but even really smart people have this issue of getting trapped by emotional thinking. I have to be careful what I say always because some people think anything you think and say has some meaning behind it when really I just like to go through all the facts even if they are uncomfortable facts to some (they cannot separate that in their mind). So yeah, it gets pretty frustrating and lonely at times... especially frustrating when I think about how much better the world would be if all were taught to think objectively. Oh well. EDIT: I forgot to add I have met people online who seem to be similar so they are out there, just never met anyone in person who thinks like me

COLLECTIVE WARRIOR. Joe you are a model of a person that can cope with life at the coal face. You've instilled the teachings to stay calm and collective, maintain your forbearance. They say follow the word and not the person. True that, but you can follow people who walk their talk. Excellent Joe.

I guess it all depends on who you’re arguing with. Sometimes the calmer you keep, the more pissed off they get

That's a person that doesn't want an alternate perspective or a debate, they're only focusing on destroying your arguments and attacking you. These will be the same kind of people who when you make a good point sigh in frustration, talk over you, or abnoxiously mock you as you're speaking. They hate how they're not getting to you.

Bro I fucking appreciate this video on so many levels. Not only are you vividly descriptive but you also explain the biological science behind the feelings I’m trying to keep in check. Much respect man and many thanks 🙏 I do like learning about myself and our past as a species and not only how to fix the problems I face but also why we face them in general.

_great observational video. A few things about Joe, he's a martial artist, fitness and health practitioner, and also he is often surrounded with female energy being happily married with three daughters. He is a master of one of the most important things as you point out, his breathing. Being aware of not just your own but other's breathing is such a plus point. I used to work as a doorman and this video should be part of the training_

I totally agree and would add he's also been doing stand up comedy for 30+ years. He's also an archer. Joe's personality and skill set is the end result of a number of habits and pursuits over many decades.

Thoughts on smiling when dealing with aggressive people? When I'm verbally attacked I often smile, and I talk quieter too. If it gets really heated I start laughing. It's completely involuntary.

I’m not saying I disagree with you, but I feel like you’re overanalyzing things just a bit. Also, Joe loses his cool quite a bit. The best example of this would be his episode with Steven Crowder. They were talking about weed if I’m not mistaken.
