I've always seen marriage as a spiritual unification with a person, with the good, bad, and ugly. But that's what made it so rewarding. Facing all aspects of a person, and have them accept you at the same time. Even a best friend couldn't compare to a title like that. It's a beautiful thing when two people aren't idiots.

His advice stings at first, but then it haunts your noggin for days and it makes sense. It still hurts, but like the soreness after a work out, you know it’s a building discomfort, not the painful sensation of deterioration.

I have two children from my previous secular lifestyle, most men don’t wanna deal with that. I also have decided since conversion that I’m not having sex until marriage, even Christian men don’t wanna deal with that. I might end up single for life. No one gets married unless there is something about a relationship someone thinks will improve their own well being. No one marries to sacrifice themselves for someone else's wellbeing. People have needs; emotional, physical, psychological, social, financial. Marriage is supposed to be the whole package. These are the reasons people get together. If these are needs you have get married but be prepared for the possible consequences. You are not born married. You are born a complete human being and that is enough without marriage.

You don't need marriage to reap the benefits of someone else. In that very egocentric and materialistic sense it would be wiser to just have a, or better, mulitple relationships. That is not what marriage is about. And on what basis is marraige "supposed" to be anything?

My folks have been happily married for decades. They are both strong characters and have winners mindsets. Theres one thing in common for people that have failed marriages, or think that the union of love between two people serves no purpose: a weak lover's attitude. Man up like my father or woman up like my mother. Bad marriages happen when one of you becomes weak and only thinks about themselves and "how can this benefit me?" When you have that idea about marriage, you've already lost. Marriage is a blessing to glorify God. Everything else will come. The moment you forget about God in marriage or in life, don't act surprised when things don't go according to your plan.

That is the issue, why man up when a woman doesn’t woman up! Why put all effort into a person that doesn’t return it? Granted you are going to see that in the first year or the second or the third… but once kids happen and then the down fall comes because no longer fells how she did prior and nor will she ever! Or because she won’t woman up, while the man has manned up day in day out with with nothing coming from his partner. So the mindset changes as if I literally get nothing from that partner but BS day in and day out. Better to be alone so then don’t have BS!

In the Netherlands, 2 people in a loving relationship can do the exact same things as a married couple. And when 2 people decide to marry, they have to choose/pick one of two 'regimes'. That chosen 'regime' decides about everything when a divorce is about to happen. And on top of that, the Netherlands have a 'no-fault' divorce system. Same-sex marriage is allowed legally since 2001. Divorce is relatively cheap, easy and fast. Oh and babies born without being married are all legal and legitimate.

Living with a person before marriage is much better than not knowing the person beforehand. This is what happened with my parents - they divorced after 15 years of being married, their personalities were clashing, they did not know how to communicate with each other. I married my husband after 7 years of relationship, we have grown and have made mistakes. It's refreshing to be married to him after all this, it shows that we made it. Sure, there will be problems and conflicts but what we have learned in these 7 years is how to talk through everything, showing each other our perspectives. This is why he says most people who have lived with each other before getting married divorce, not all people.

My parents are hoping and praying that someday I get married. Sometimes I feel like they're pressuring me to do so. If I were to get married, I'd rather get married out of will, out of desire, and out of choice. Not out of pressure. Not out of manipulation, not because my parents, friends, or churchmates want me to. To be honest with you, I don't want marriage for my life and my future. The choice is mine, no one else. What I have in my wallet is none of my girlfriend's business, what I earn is none of her business, my email password is none of her business, my medical records are none of her business. Besides, what's wrong with a man honoring God with his singleness? Lots of brothers and sisters in Christ tell me things like "God has better", "God's timing is perfect", etc. I feel like I'm being pressured and I don't like that. Especially the baptists. They are the ones who mostly touch you with that subject. What is their problem with someone being single, happy, living for Christ, and honoring God with their singlness? What's it their business how a single man enjoys life?
@antoniosaunders9726

I see nothing wrong with a person who wishes to remain single and serve the Lord all their life. Paul over in 1 Cor 7 talks about that. How he wishes that men could be even as he was as in being single and serving the Lord. But he also says if they cannot contain let them marry for it is better to marry than to burn. Me, I would like to have a woman that i can spend the rest of my life with. And i want a kid. Maybe 2 but anyhow i would like that. I just don't think it'll happen for me. I think that Marriage is for some, but not all. And I am a Baptist.

Spent four years in the family devil’s court. Never get legally married. Instead, cohabitate if you want a long term relationship. If you want to have children, the man should own the home which levels the playing field considerably in a possible custody battle. This may sound harsh, but it’s the family court’s fault for making legal marriage extremely risky to your livelihood. No one should ever commit to their corrupt arbitration services, through a marriage license, in the event of a split.

Common law marriage and/or communal property law still apply without a marriage certificate. You either neurotically catalogue and separate and maintain a paper trail for everything to the likely end of your relationship or you choose to bet on a relationship lasting and go all in, but you pick your poison either way. I think many men are naive that not having a marriage certificate means they're protected. If a woman really wants to screw you over then not having a marriage certificate won't protect you, life has risk, don't let it prevent you from living

One can always walk away (check divorce rates). Marriage makes men beta and benefits women distortionatley (especially in the U.S.) Marriage makes a man submit to his women and the governing body which instantly makes her less attracted to him. Most men that marry fear being alone and want a woman to dictate to them. Men that marry the wrong women often wreck their lives while limiting their options. Marriage is a contractual agreement that gives women power over men in exchange for reliable sex and children but most men end up in sexless marriages and often lose custody of their children.

Its not for everyone but to say 100% about anything, especially marriage, is a little extreme. We don't all base our lives on the legal system. Some of us build equity in other ways you'll never have.

My husband just married me so I can work in the United States and help my family!! It’s not a real love so no need to change last name!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 Marriage is no longer HOLY! A lot of foreigners will use fiance visa instead of work visa to enter United States of America and to get a job! Fiance visa is a smart way to enter USA rather than expensive work visa. Also, marriage visa is not recommended as maybe you get married in a country where divorce is no possible..😂😂😂😂😂 I recommend foreigners from other countries to marry an American just to get a job in the United States of America for work purposes!!!! 😂😂😂 Also my husband is paying less taxes now that he’s married!!! 😂😂😂

Jordan Peterson is great but he is wrong about marriage in today's world. Marriage holds little value for successful men - the odds are in favor of divorce with the man being penalized with custody awarded to the female, child support (which the female can spend in any way she wishes), denial of visitation rights (on the whim of the female), the likelihood of losing half of his assets and lifetime alimony in some states. Oh yeah, females file for 75% of all divorces. The government marriage contract and government divorce laws favor females in a big way. No thanks.

Who says you have to follow what modern society does? I am going to have traditional marriage no matter how crazy society is. Even if that means I have to move countries. If you don’t have a vision for your legacy, and want to go 50/50, and work a job for most your life than I can see why this is your view on marriage. Successful men have told me that when you marry the right woman can multiply your success. It’s important to study successful and beneficial marriage and yourself. It’d also important to study why divorce is filed so the same mistakes aren’t repeated.

People denigrate getting married and having children... But like, what else are you going to do with your life that is even remotely as meaningful as that? Sure, some people have careers that are deeply meaningful, and they devote their whole lives to that, and that's great, too. But most people that are so anti-marriage have mediocre or mundane jobs, self-indulgent hobbies, and don't want to give up what they perceive as freedom in the pursuit of something with transcendent value.

Like why do you care if another person doesn't wanna marry, it literally has nothing to do with you. And if you think getting married and having kids are the only meaningful things then that's your perspective, doesn't mean other people can't see things beyond that. What else am I going to do with my life without kids and a spouse? Well a lot of things but at least one of them is minding my own business and not poking my nose in other people's business.

All ur doing is signing a piece of paper that u r legally together and if the man leaves the woman when she is pregnant the guy will get punished by having to pay for child support. Not that every guy would do that but. There's really no benefits of being married it's just the woman would get the same last name as the man does. That's really about it. U can be with the person u love for the rest of ur life without being married..hell u can even buy rings together. That's what me and my wife did we bought each other rings and put them on each other. No wedding no wedding dress no tuxedo just rings and a celebration.
