I think the problem was that Johnson didn't know the course well enough to have default criteria for captain's picks. Stricker knew that his default characteristic for Whistling Straits was to get bombers. Johnson didn't have that for the course in Rome and doubled down by not demanding that a guy who wanted a pick show him they had the right game for that golf course.

All of this has an asterisk on it! The top five or six players are on LIV. This is just a pga attaboy for wins on a tour that probably isn’t as strong as the players in recent DP World tournaments which have mostly been won by LIV guys. His putting was awesome!! 😉⛳️😇😊
