I think so many Americans believe that we should not travel anywhere near the Middle East right now, but you are showing us that so many places are still accessible and relatively safe. Jordan looks amazing and there is no chance of going hungry anytime soon. Your lunch in the restaurant looked beyond delicious. The raw meat reminded me of what I saw in Germany (raw beef with onions on bread.) I am sure it tasted really good with a hint of cinnamon, which is common as a savory spice in that part of the world. I just love watching you both and enjoying your adventures/food tours along the way.

Glynis Rogers - I agree, I'm from the UK, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all but essential travel to Israel, well, I went with my Church group 18 months ago, and I must admit I was a little nervous at the prospect, but it was a brilliant experience- we even went to the site of one of the occupied territories (to Shiloh, the site of the first Biblical Temple)- in some parts of the country, 'the wall' between the Palestinians and Israeli's consists of a few running barbed wires- if you watch the news you would never travel anywhere in that region, but the problem is often exaggerated- my Pastor has been taking a group with him about every 6 months for 5 years now, and there's never been any problems.

Ruthie may, a simple answer would be it was a peaceful region split between people of both Islamic and Christian faith , a leftover from the ottoman empire and under British empire rule when after ww2 it was decided that the Jewish population needed a country , so this land was given to them under some abirtary borders in 1948ish which obviously the local population who had lived peacefully together like the rest of the region in a fairly equal Christian/Muslim split weren't too happy with... Then 'israel' decided that they didn't only want to fight for these original borders and infact want the lot.. and as soon as anyone argues it's a case of look what we have been through you must be a racist. Hmm right. And it continues on to this day...

I was married to a Jordanian in the 80s, and I experienced the same thing when I visited Amman. We would go see members of his family and the food that they would make was so incredible that I could not resist just eating until I was going to explode. I have never experienced that anywhere else in my life and it is truly remarkable about the food in Jordan. Luckily, in the United States, his family ran a falafel shop, and my husband knew how to cook every one of those dishes you just ate, and so now I do too. I left him when he started hitting me, which was actually pretty inevitable. He was the first son of nine children in a very rich family, and not getting his way wasn’t something he was really used to lol. Despite all that, it was a very enriching experience until it wasn’t, and I am thankful for it. It really introduced me to international travel and unusual food and many things which have been a part of my life ever since.

I never realize Nate narrates most everything until I hear Kara's voice and it throws me off a little, haha. Love the variety!
