SANTORINI, GREECE: my first visit, cable car, red beach, gyros, donkey trail, most gorgeous views!

I am SO glad to see your perspective on Santorini-such a stunning, spectacularly beautiful place with the whitewashed buildings and the various shades of blue. I will be cruising to Santorini next year but I need a mobility scooter. From the footage of you boarding the tender to all your walking (much less hiking to Red Beach), I now have months to adjust to the reality that some ports can only be enjoyed from the ship while soaking in the views from the top deck. I visited Santorini on a really small cruise (capacity of 40 guests) and we were able to dock which was awesome. Also, we went in 2021 just after Greece opened back up for tourists so there were hardly any tourists there and we were able to get on the cable car with no wait. Santorini was incredible!

We were in Santorini on a cruise first week of June the line for the donkeys and horses and cable car to the top was so insane is We end up walking to the top and the donkey poo i& horse poi was everywhere and smell bad and it was so slippery but we made it our second time they’re never gets old

Jordan, I'm so glad you and your cast mates got to experience so much of gorgeous Santorini. You'll love it even more on future port calls as you get farther along in the season -- and the temps cool down and crowds thin out. And next time, yes, please make sure you go to the most iconic and picturesque part of Santorini: Oia (and it is indeed pronounced ee-a). There's a public bus that runs all day between Fira and Oia that's easy to catch and cheap. Also just want to mention, so that your viewers have full info, that the 1 euro you paid to ride the cable car up to Fira must have been a discounted crew fare as the normal adult fare one-way fare is 6 euros.

We were in Santorini for 7 days last summer, it is a magical place! By the way the donkey trail is 600 steps if I recall!!

Seeing the donkeys made me think of the bit comedian Ron White does about his visit there! He’s like the donkey guy was like you can ride the donkeys or the cable car they are the same price! You gotta work on your marketing guy!! Glad you had a fun day even if you didn’t get to spend time at the beach! I say gyro with a g sound!

Baklava!!!! My in-laws had friends from Greece that owned a Greek bakery here in our little town of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Each time they visited, they brot baklava. There is nothing like it!! Wasn't from Greece, but made by Greek people, so counts as the same, right? Last winter my son (same age as you) came to me and said, mum, I got a baklava. What?? You got baklava?? Dang it, he meant a balaclava (ski type touque). I was so dissappointed. I thought we were going to have a delicious treat!! Because they are terribly mistreated working on those steps carrying tourists up and down everyday.

@@AudreyMealiff with ill fitted saddles and bridles. No medical treatment. bad hoofcare. not enough water or good food. Donkeys don't normally go tru garbage to find something more to eat. And it's a steap hill that they carry tourist up and down every day. If a tourist thing has animals in use don't do it. Making money off the poor animals backs is never a good idea.
