But if they’re going to be using it and their safety depends on good ice I can see how’d they want to be involved. I think on a cruise ship you wear a lot of different hats

Can't believe you had no ice engineer there to make the ice! It's crazy you were left to do it yourselves. The ice is probably cracking because the machines were turned up high to freeze the ice quickly. We used to flood it with a layer of water and give it plenty of time to freeze. More than 20 mins between flooding it. DW about it cracking. It'll be fine once it's at its proper thickness and normal temperature I'm sure 😊 Hope rehearsals are going well! 💖🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛸️

All the crew have multiple job's, work extremely hard ie muster drill, spot light , frie watch and even then have to clean their room . How Jordan finds time to vlog, edit and interview others is amazing. ⛸🙆‍♀️👏👏👏

I'm really surprised there's no ice engineer there tbh! That should be their job, not the skaters. I've helped make the ice on a tank before (tank is what you call a portable rink), but only because I volunteered to help the ice engineer. We didn't have a Zamboni. Everything was done by hand....clearing the ice with large scrapers and wetting it with a large hose attached to a t-shaped wooden frame, with cloth along the bottom to act like a Zamboni wetting the ice. It worked great! Ice was always excellent. The skaters didn't do that tbh. Stage workers and the engineer did it.
@peterd8817
@peterd8817 2 жыл бұрын
There is a ice tech , the issue is the ship is a return to service not a normal regular maintenance. He was probably doing the night shifts ? The production cast are the stage workers for the ice cast and the ice cast are the stage workers for the production cast .🤷‍♂️all work work work .

Jordan, several cruises back we were taking a behind the scenes tour of the ship. When in Studio B, the cast member showing us around pointed out a black disc-shaped object at center ice under the ice and asked if anyone knew what that was? Of course, no one did. She told us that prior to laying down the ice, all of the cast members placed a coin or some other personal memento in a thin, round canister and placed it under the ice at center ice. I wonder do ice casts still do this?

Great video! Just realized I hadn't finished watching until now! Bummer about the ice cracking first! A little nerdy techie info. Ice in skating rink for figure skating is between 24 and 29 degrees Fahrenheit. Makes the ice slightly snowy when skate cut into the ice. Hockey ice is a little colder and makes it skate faster.😊

You said pop, not soda. Definitely a Buffalo term. Get a Pop from Tops (went to UB so I understand).

There's obviously no ice engineer there, which I'm really surprised at!!

What happens if you get hurt? Like temporarily or badly? Does your contract end?

we have understudies if we’re injured/sick or if it’s long term then we would have to potentially be signed off early

Lol, you don’t think the wife can be any worse you say. Try the non-high speed wife. Very good comparison to the old dial up. Horrible. We will be pinnacle by the 8th of May. One of the benefits is free high speed Wi-Fi. HUGE. The crew is looking good, keep at it. 👍

I don’t understand why the Ice Cast performers are also making the ice? 🤨🤔When you said previously that “we were” installing the ice, I thought you meant professional ice makers, not the cast literally standing there watering it! You think Royal could pay for a professional ice surface 🤦🏻‍♀️

it’s not super frequent, but sometimes we have to help out with making the ice! usually it’s PM and stage staff too but at the time we didn’t have either
