I hope we all know that it doesn't matter who is in the 'top job' because this is a systemic problem - greed. We have allowed many of our economic sectors, to take advantage of the American people. It's disgusting and frightening for the future of our country. My husband and I will be retiring in the next two years n another country. We are absolutely worried that SSI will no longer be funded. we'll have to rely on his pension, a 403 (b) and a very prolific Investment account with my Tracy Britt Cool Consulting my FA. Our national debt is bloating and expanding every month. Our government needs to get spending under control and cut the federal budget.

I'm 56 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

In the 80's my Dad worked a modest job, Mom stayed at home and raised the kids, and they lived a nice middle class lifestyle including owning a home. Nowadays both I and my partner works and can barely afford to make ends meet. Soon the kids and family dog will need to work to keep this household going. It's the destruction of the American dream right before our eyes.

What I've disliked about some of these videos is the premise of Christianity is being completely misunderstood and even misrepresented in these discussions as being entirely SELF-focused. That the belief and following of Jesus is somehow a 'self-help' solution to make your lives better. The 'feelings' of purpose, joy, peace, etc. that a person who commits their lives to Jesus experiences are as a RESULT of putting God and Jesus first. They are not the goal. They are a biproduct of a self-less and other-focused faith that truly 'Loves God and loves others'. Another way of saying it that the goal, focus, and intent of following Jesus is to put His will above *your will. To put Him first means accepting that whatever your less-than-idealized visions of what YOU want your life to be... God may in fact have you EXACTLY where he wants you doing exactly what he wants you to do with exactly the people he wants you to be around. I think Christians will lose this battle of ideals when you can just as easily have atheists and all the other beliefs simply express their contentment with themselves apart from God. The Christian first and foremost has the humility to know and express how broken we all are and how we all need a savior to save us from ourselves and from the rat race hamster wheel of unfulfillment that comes from living apart from God. If a person is unable or unwilling to admit in humility their own brokenness and futility, then that person is simply not yet in a place to accept the free gift of mercy, grace, forgiveness of sins, and refocused life's purpose and value that belief and abiding in our savior Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah, provides them.

I agree with your asserting about the self-centered aspect that is flirted with in some of these videos. It is extraordinarily difficult not to see the world in terms of one's own experience. Even you, in pointing that out, accidently crossed that line in the "rat-race" portion of your comment. I think in many parts of this video..."loving God and loving others" serves as a context that doesn't require mention not only beacuse it is a factor in every interpretation, but also the way they approach it, "love" means something very different. Think of it this way...I may be a exactly where God wants me, with the people God wants me to be with, but a key function of Christian humality is admitting that I am NEVER doing exactly what God wants me to do. And this disconnect results in that hopelessness, meaninglessness...all the things. So my problem isn't the burden per say...its that I'm baring it incorrectly...how do I fix that? That's why a primary point thats frequently made is that the cause of hopelessness is the failure to live in accordance with ones potential...to not be the version of you that you are capable of being. And that simply by doing that...being the person God calls us to be...our burden may still be there, but for some reason the meaninglessness dies and is resurrected as meaning within. And they point to Christ as the chief example of this. Its not self help in that they are using Christianity to make a life more pleasant. They are pointing out that when a person feels these negative emotions, the first place to look is OUTSIDE ones experience. Not "what can I do different to feel better" But what "what am I not doing that i should be doing period...even if it does nothing to make me feel better?" And a frequent theme is this as a consequence "you should tell the truth no matter what the cost." That perfectly encapsulates the idea of "worship God...not because it benefits you...but because God deserves worship." So they are trying to suggest that you should "tell the truth" or "live in connection with God" not because it leads to fulfillment, or even because it saves you, but because it's something you should be doing regardless of how it's impacts you. And it's only because God is loving with grace and mercy that doing so has a sensation of fulfillment as a consequence. Someone who submits to Christ because they want the reward of heaven doesn't love Christ...they just lust after the profit He offers. The reason a person submits to Christ is because He is Christ. Thats the Scriptural interpretation. A person doesnt "tell the truth" for personal gain, but because it's is be truth. That is the Scriptural application.

This was Wes Huff's frustration about JP on the Joe Rogan Podcast. Christ is not simply an ideal or a morally perfect character to look up to. He is who he says he is, and only he has redemptive and salvific power. Living a Christ-like life can indeed bring some joy, peace, and wisdom, but it is not complete and doesn't bring salvation. "A lot of people will say Lord Lord, and I will say that I do not know them." Before our birth, God loved us so much that he felt compelled to bring us into existence for the expressed purpose of having a relationship with us. This isn't about striving toward an ideal as the primary motivator but seeking a relationship with the one true God that transforms us, allowing us to live closer to the ideal.

Well said. I admit I’ve been pretty frustrated with the series also. It’s too much about what I call “the Oprah Winfrey religion”. You know the kind. The bumper sticker with all faiths side by side and it’s all the same God and it’s all good. It’s only through Jesus are we saved. And everything else comes after that. The Oprah reference has to do with the often “spiritual” aspect that celebrities talk about and it’s all good no matter what you believe. I hate that and it’s not right. I don’t even think they should include Dennis in the discussion about the gospels to be honest as he doesn’t believe in Jesus being God. As sophisticated these men are and as much as I love JPs videos over the years, I feel he still comes way short of believing Jesus is God and committing to him. He is still too technical to allow himself to submit to God as his one savior and Lord. Glad to hear I’m not alone.

G.K. Chesterton’s chapter on “The Paradoxes of Christianity,” from Orthodoxy, is a powerful exploration of the unique and seemingly contradictory qualities of the Christian faith. Below is a clear and well-thought-out analysis of the chapter: Key Argument: Chesterton argues that Christianity is paradoxical in the sense that it holds seemingly opposite truths in perfect balance. Rather than being a weakness, these paradoxes reveal Christianity’s depth and its ability to encompass the complexity of human experience. Chesterton claims that other philosophies or belief systems often lean too heavily in one direction, losing balance, while Christianity maintains the tension between extremes. Structure of the Argument: 1. Critics’ Contradictions About Christianity Chesterton opens by pointing out that Christianity is often criticized for contradictory reasons. For example: • One critic may call it too optimistic, while another may call it too pessimistic. • Some say it’s too restrictive, yet others accuse it of being too permissive. Rather than dismissing these conflicting critiques as absurd, Chesterton sees them as evidence of Christianity’s unique ability to integrate opposing truths. It satisfies both extremes without falling prey to either. 2. The Paradox of Virtues Chesterton highlights how Christianity balances virtues that might otherwise be in conflict. For instance: • Hope and Fear: Christianity teaches hope for salvation while fostering a healthy fear of judgment. • Humility and Ambition: The faith calls for personal humility (recognizing one’s flaws) but also encourages people to aspire to divine greatness. Chesterton compares this balance to a “collision of two passions” that creates dynamic tension, rather than a flat compromise. 3. Christianity’s “Double Demands” Chesterton illustrates how Christianity places seemingly contradictory demands on individuals: • It demands self-denial (taking up one’s cross) while simultaneously affirming the immense value of the individual soul. • It preaches meekness and forgiveness while celebrating righteous indignation against injustice (e.g., Christ driving out the money changers). These “double demands” require humans to live fully in both dimensions, neither collapsing into passivity nor veering into unbridled aggression. 4. Comparison to Other Systems Chesterton contrasts Christianity with secular philosophies or ideologies, which often err by overemphasizing one aspect of human nature at the expense of others: • Stoicism, for example, suppresses emotion to maintain rational calm, ignoring the richness of human passion. • Romanticism glorifies passion and chaos but often leads to a loss of moral or rational grounding. Christianity, by contrast, embraces the fullness of human experience without losing sight of its moral and spiritual purpose. 5. Paradox as a Mark of Truth Chesterton concludes that these paradoxes do not weaken Christianity but instead testify to its divine origin. A man-made religion, he argues, would lack such intricacies because it would reflect the limitations of human thinking. Christianity’s paradoxes point to a faith that transcends human logic while remaining profoundly relevant to human life. Key Insights: 1. Christianity’s Complexity Reflects Reality: The paradoxes of Christianity align with the paradoxes of life itself, suggesting it is not an artificial or overly simplistic system. 2. Tension Creates Strength: Christianity thrives on the creative tension between opposites, which provides a dynamic and robust framework for understanding and living life. 3. Paradox as a Signpost to God: For Chesterton, the existence of paradoxes in Christianity is evidence of its divine origin, as it addresses the complexity of the world in a way no purely human philosophy can. Modern Relevance: This chapter continues to resonate with readers who struggle with the tension between opposing forces in their lives-between individual freedom and communal responsibility, justice and mercy, or material success and spiritual fulfillment. Chesterton’s insight reminds us that life is not about choosing one extreme or the other but about holding them in balance.

Certainly. Bishop remembers Jesus' a person, not an ideal. Is He the ideal person? No, he is the Truth. The existing, everlasting, always active, manifested Truth. He is not an idea, something imaginary, otherwise He wouldn't be real. Instead He is the greatest and most real presence in the whole universe, the Christ, who verily came in the flesh as Jesus. There is no ideal here, but Truth and History.

4:50-5:52 Jordan should understand this perfectly. He played the role for so long as many young men’s “perfect ideal”, not by being the man, but by preaching the redemption of becoming that man very early on (which is something I believe he is doing all this for, to refind that spark) that he had so many young men tell him “thank you for helping me fix my life”. Would have been cool to see him put that together in real time.

Then why did Jesus say Blessed are the Feet of those Who preach or teach or proclaim the good News of His salvation.? All believers are one Holy body! Therefore a body has various parts. We need the Mouth of God to breathe LIFE. We need the arms to hug and hold. We need the feet to runs swiftly to rescue. We need the heart to pray and eyes to weep. And what if all that I am in the body of Christ this moment IS a finger?? A finger depends on many parts of the body so it can do it's humble part. In the Spirit we are what God calls us to BE. In the flesh we are male and female.

To Stevens point of not being able to know your sins unless you have a genuine encounter with God: for many months, I would pray to God to show me my sins so that I could bring that to confession. I believe that the devil makes you blind to your sins so that you will not be reconciled. I remember the day clearly as I was walking to work when suddenly a pile of sins that I committed, most of which I had completely forgotten about as they were committed years ago, some even decades ago, were shown to me. I thanked God and brought those sins to confession.

What people miss w/ the prodigal son's parable, is that pretty much every older brother in the Bible cares more about the heritage/reward than the father, they don't love the brother...(Cain and Able, Esau and Jacob) The parable ends without letting us know whats next, because it has many possibilities and teachings for us to exercise, but usuallly the older brother would kill the younger brother and/or the father for the heritage... And we see that in many parables, just a bit different.. like the farmers parable. 1 John 2:9-10 "Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling Be careful with the "right things"... You may end up thinking you deserve something or puttin a price tag in everything.. not to mention, loosing sensitivity torwards others.. just cultivate a heart after Christ

Great point. In the past, Jordan has pointed out that rabbits are not "good" because they don't do bad things. They aren't good, just harmless. The same idea applies to the older brother in this prodigal son story. He thought he was doing right because he didn't leave. However, just sticking around and working doesn't make him good. Choosing to be good once you have experienced sin/evil/bad, is an indication of sincerity and growth.

I think pride and guilt have a strong relationship. The person who has surrendered himself to the idea that he is a drug addict doesn't feel guilty when they use. But the business/family man feels guilty. Thinking this is not who I am. Or I'm better than this. I'm not promoting using drugs, all I'm saying, which was said in the video, is that we shouldn't be so hard on ourselves. Pride comes before the fall.

Dr.Peterson's interpretation of Jesus's teachings is similarly to my ideas, I am focusing on his ability to use metaphor. It is also held by many other scholars too that although Jesus's birth background is peasant family, metaphoric use is wisdom, that changes people. It is also topic of Historic Jesus, so is referential that I would express my thanksgiving.

“For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them. All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath. This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead. For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun. I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.” Ecclesiastes 9:1-9, 11-12, 16-18 KJV 6:23 Solomon means peace. Dove means peace. One greater than Solomon appeared to Isreal and a king riding on a donkey means a peaceful campaign. Truth only comes from the Word of God.

The message of salvation is made clear from God today. Spoken prayers, water baptisms, public confessions will not earn you one step closer to salvation. Instead salvation rests upon the work of Christ on the cross on your behalf as they have been confessed by the divine inspiration of Paul’s pen. Stop trusting your display of confession and start solely trusting in the words of God’s grace towards you in Christ, the hope of glory (Rom 4:24-25, 1 Cor 15:1-4).

2:42 "The Catholics that sin all week and then confess..." This is not to be taken against John, because why would he know, but it betrays his ignorance of both catholic teaching on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and catholic day-to-day life. First, the Sacrament only works if you're truly repentant (which, of course, needs to be qualified with a Catholic understanding of human frailty), and you make a sincere resolution to amend your ways. If you go to confess a sin for which you are not sorry, you mock the Sacrament. You make your situation a lot worse by adding sacrilege to your other sins. Reconciliation is the one Sacrament where nobody is "keeping score." There's no record of the confessions people make. Moreover, you can go in the confessional to make people believe that you're confessing you sins and tell the priest that you don't repent of anything. The priest is bound by secrecy and he can't even reveal whether you did confess or not. But what would be the point? Bad Catholics just don't go to confession. Why bother? I cannot imagine a good reason to fake confession. Jordan too seemed totally ignorant of these dynamics. Where is bishop Barron when you need him?

Returning to my faith after 20 years absence, the hardest part was confessing my sins. Not that i didn't believe that the lord had forgiven me (so i thought) but the hurdle of forgiving myself. Here is where the Faith and loving of yourself the way God loves you comes into the picture. If you have confessed, have truly repented and strive not to fall again into sin, then that is it, you are forgiven after you go to confession and have the freedom to start again. Some people conquer their sins immediately and others it takes years (especially with addictions like porn etc etc). The temptations are everywhere to coerce you back into sin. Pick up your cross (its heavy) ... move forward (its hard work) ... learn to love (needed for true happiness) ...and believe that God has your back ...The reward is eternal life of love and happiness

Jonathan is so wrong. No sin is private. If Jonathan is a member of the Body of Christ, when one sins it affects the whole body, of which he is part. I understand from an exorcist that exorcisms take so much longer these days because the body of believers is sick with sin and we lack the holy men and women of culture who through prayer strengthen the body.

You put your flash light of religion away, and step into the dark and reach for the God of the way, the truth for He is the Light. Until Jordan throws his flash light of his favorite psycho philosophers away, He will not take that so important step of Biblical faith. Been praying for him to receive Christ for many years. Salvation is as simple that even a child can know it. “Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he [Jesus] did once, when he offered up himself. Hebrews 7:27

This may be unrelated, but I saw what you said on Piers Morgan's show, and I have a comment on that. Islam is not a single unified religion; there are multiple. correct me at any time... a religion consists of 4 fundamental ideas: 1. an almighty, all-knowing being deserving of worship 2. a messenger of some sort to carry the word of God 3. A unified law that all disciples must abide by 4. and a temple/ceremony to repent and worship the God based on that, the Sunni, Shiaa, ISIS, Hezbollah... all of these are completely different religions. Shiaa have a different messenger and a different book; even worse, they consider sacrificing the other factions slaughtering them a great tribute; meanwhile, the Sunni ones are the pacifists, happily walking around an old house in Saudi. and ISIS, Hezbollah, and their type believe that they are going to free the earth; they are basically the crusaders. And the groups from Pakistan are called Rwafed and Nwaseb. They believe that they are the chosen ones and the kofar (anyone outside of their religion) are basically animals; they can do with them anything they want at no fault. If they killed them, well, it's like killing a fly, not a big deal, so it's no wonder what they have done.

1:54 the Protestants don't go to confessionals, but they do go to God in prayer (as Jesus taught "Our Father, which are in Heaven ... forgive us our trespasses ... "). What's amazing, and I'm sure this is only true when you're sincerely repentful, is that even the very conscience is cleansed.

The pursuit of higher ideals is a sinnaptical addiction. Our purpose to reach above from below. From our parents to government to church we’re always reaching up toward something above us. This is we’re we are tricked by a programmed self manoeuvre. It’s an opium. It’s self important. PSYCHO GEnetic motivation it gives us something to do and in the something to do: we invest i. An emotional investment creating self importance and if anyone challenges our self we react with fear for our fear is fear of loss. The loss of stimulus. The junkie.

@JordanBPeterson : The Gospels’ discussion seems to be lost in abstractions, and therefore misses the point of the Gospels altogether. The question: How do you know when you find Truth?,” is a clear example. It assumes that one cannot find the Truth unless one already has ‘knowledge’, or ‘conception’, of what Truth is. This assumption runs counter to what the Gospels say. “I am the way, and The Truth, and the life.” John 14:6, points to a living experience of Jesus as the means of finding and knowing the Truth. ‘Intellect’ is not the starting point of the process of knowing the Truth, Physical Experience is. A Christian meditating on the sayings in the Gospels is not trying to find what is true or false; s/he is eliciting to experience (i.e, feeling and knowing) God through the Living Christ. It is experience that leads to the confession, “My Lord and my God!” John 20:28

The true ideal is when someone no longer need Jesus to save them but able to save themselves on their own for knowing the proper truth. Which all adult should strive for and become better than the animals and its instinct... Not stay like a forever child that need saving from their parents coz they are not sure in knowing whats right and wrong or able to discern the tangible Truth from all the countless falsehood and all sorts of fakery in our midst. Thats simple really... (same governing dynamics in becoming independent from ones parents or guide)

First separate what you want the truth to be from cold, hard truth. Truth will resonate around the world eastwards with all of God's creatures. Something fun to have is two singing stones (urim & thummum). You can makeshift something that goes ding and another that goes dong. The quiet voice in your head might be God talking to you, but the spirit of what is says means it's probably satan. Have fun communicating with God with your singing stones. Don't go crazy.
