That looked like a sweet ride. And bonus brewery was cool.

On public vs private property.. i use the Garmin "Hunting Maps" on my Montana 700i (mounted to my DRZ) which show property boundaries for private, state, federal, and native lands. It's very helpful here in interior Alaska where there are lots of dirt roads and tracks that traverse all sorts of properties. We also have section lines which are legal access points across private property, but when using those it is best to be at least considerate and respectful of the owners and not drive them earlier in the spring when they are still wet (and thus digging trenches in the roads/trails). I follow "Tread Lightly" principles for all my rides, including picking up trash left on trail if I have the room for it. Anyway, thanks for the nice footage and taking us along on your ride.

I love riding my XR150L on all the rural gravel roads here in rural NW Iowa. And we have hundreds of miles of gravel. Some are more challenging than others. There are a few that are real dirt roads, no gravel, just dirt. I have the same issue with my GoPros. Batteries die rather quickly. I have tried the extend life batteries and they are a bit better. I got the GoPro Volta, and it powers the camera for a much longer time. But you have to mount the camera to the bike to use it. I have also used a small USB power supply in my jacket pocket, with a cord to power the camera on the helmet. works OK, but I have to remember to disconnect the cord when I take the helmet off. That was a nice route, but you have more hills and trees than here. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

No gate, not posted, looks like a road, two outlets, on GPS, not trespassing. Some people though. Got chased out of a dead end paved road once. Stopped an turned arround more than 500 yards from the dead end to, but someone still got mad.

When I’m out exploring my rule for deciding if it’s a public road or not is if there’s a stop sign I consider it a public road. If there’s no stop sign then more than likely it’s a private lane. It’s always awkward when you pull up to someone’s house and they aren’t happy to see you.
@JordanRay6 ай бұрын
Definitely tricky, a lot of the roads I’ve been finding are township numbers “TNS” and now recently “wash”? First time I’ve seen those actually

just going out for the day exploring county and gravel roads is great way to spend a day. always find the most interesting things. i have also wound up on private property following the gps. it happens. twice now i have had property owners stop me with shot guns! you never know what they have going on that they don't want anyone seeing. i have stumbled up on some pretty sketchy individuals. still better than riding boring blacktop. keep exploring!

I have the same issue with my GoPro batteries. Even if they saw 100% on the charger when I leave… they last about 1/2 hour…sometimes longer. And they don’t hold the charge for days in my saddlebag like you would think they would. Very frustrating. I bring 4 with me every time because I can’t rely on them working. I mostly just film for backup in case something happens, or to take screen shots during group rides of the line of bikes in front of me.
@JordanRay6 ай бұрын
My wife tells me it’s because I film in 4k, I guess filming at like 1080p30fs it lasts much longer. They also offer a white top battery that had slightly longer battery life, I only have the blue top.

That go pro seems annoying. I remember a video your wife done demoing a different camera. Maybe you should snatch it from her and try it. xD I forgot what it was called.
@JordanRay6 ай бұрын
Technology in general is annoying, they start adding all these features without solidifying the basic functions. I think that was the Osmo 4? It doesn’t support external mics very well, and I still think the Gopro has better quality. It does do low light very well though.

Hey do you have an email where I can send a YT link? Or I could tag you with the link in my community tab. I just watched a compilation of cats video and one of the clips looks like Jess where her cat hits her on the face. It was posted about 7 years ago. Or if you already know about it, I apologize and kindly disregard. If so I can delete this post too.

GoPros suck. Try a DJI Osmo Action 4. It does everything better.
@JordanRay6 ай бұрын
If we could figure out the mic issue with Dji I would give it a try. We’ve tried 4 or 5 mics and they all sound terrible, I only know of one person using an external mic on a osmo 4 and it is not ideal. But the video quality seems good.
