I'm getting tix to see Jorma in June. I've seen Clapton, Tommy Emmanuel, Jesse Cook, and some modern surf. Unfortunately, I missed Dick Dale's last tour, and West coasters like Makana and Nina Gerber don't come to New England that much.

As a kid this was my favorite jorma composition and how serendipitous it was to find myself in his studio learning water song from him!!! He is a kind, patient teacher and this tune is really just a few different motifs. Personally, I find embryonic tougher in some spots. I played as john cephas' student for 5 years, so that got me "eligible" so to speak. Nice geetar too jorma.

@KnightBiologist Gibson Chet Aitkins.. it is actually a pretty nice guitar and live tone is pretty sweet.. although this is a pretty good recording.. audio is suffering quite a bit... I have played a couple of Jormas axes,, but not that one..

Great tune. I liked it better on the acoustic steel string guitar though; what was that, a Garvin? sounded like nylon strings...not enough sustain or body to the tone, I think. Thanks for posting the vid.

Try it in a G tuning, sounds fuller. I think this more difficult than Embryonic Journey.

It IS in open G, he taught me in person. Embryonic is much harder for me . They are both very simple sets of motifs put together, Jorma told me that it takes 2,000 repetitions to get it into your muscle memory. YOU can do this! cheers
