So many beautiful scenes... the birth of Sandman, all the action and swinging scenes, the symbiote that takes Peter into bed, the irony of JJJ and Ditkovich... and some people only remember the deliberately cringe scenes of the bully... If this movie had been made the way Sam wanted without Sony ruining it, it would have been on another level.

Having experineced this in 2007, it's interesting to see how the perception changed. While it seems people are enjoying it now, this is a pretty clear example of people laughing AT the movie, rather than WITH it. It reminds me the audience reaction video to The Room with Tommy Wiseau. Thanks to memes, it's become a "So bad it's good" movie for some. And thats a shame, I do think it's better than people give it credit for but it's also cool to see people coming around to liking it.

It is straight up shocking to me how these Bully McGuire moments have become more legendary as 17 years have passed. I literally have no idea how it’s possible, but people love these moments. I saw a guy in my theater wearing the black suit Peter wore as he did his weird little dance and a manager at concessions dared the audience to dance along with this scene.
