It's a good job he didn't sing in a higher key because his last high note might have wobbled even more. I think he made the right decision. Anyway what's all this obsession with high notes? Listen to the music, the singer and the words instead.

Sorry. I can't see how great this rendition is. Is it because Carreras's voice was in decline? Or is because English is not his native tongue? Or is it because the forceful way he sang it? He seemed to put too much emphasis on many words. I think many less known American singers did a better job than Carreras on this song, e.g., Jan Peerce, Richard Crook, Eugene Conley..

Jan Peerce??? lol Just about the ugliest voice the world has ever heard. He sounded like a 1969 Ford LTD. You have horrible taste in tenors.

It's not about this particular rendition, it's about him.

He should have stopped opening up his diphthong vowels. LIke the last word,( mine).. and sung into the I sound, not the A.. and his voice would not have wobbled. This wobble is from singing to loudly , pushing his lovely lyric voice to be bigger than it was.
