I like the way he plays especially the 2nd one; it's fun to watch him! What's interesting is -- despite the choppiness of texture, he still manages to bring out a very pleasing tone and melody. Also, the way he plays it really underscores the humor found in the writing! Ah, that clever Alkan!

I have the recording of José López playing the Alkan/Mozart transcriptions, but I can't find any CD of him playing these wonderful Opus 41 fantasies. Has anyone out there seen these on a recording?

I don’t think Mr. Lopez has recorded these Fantaisies onto a CD yet. I hope he records another Alkan CD - both his Fantaisies and Symphony deserve to be put on CD. Also Nocturne Op. 22, which he also plays beautifully on YT
