yep Abbott did some amazing things with just one arm. Went 18-11 in 1991 for the Angels and then threw a no hitter for the Yankees in 1993 vs. Cleveland who had Kenny Lofton, Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez and Albert Belle.

Yes they had an outstanding team. As a Giants fan I say this. The A,s were the best franchise in baseball in 89-90 without a doubt. I knew we were in trouble playing against them in the 89 WS I was just hoping we could win ONE game and avoid the sweep. Lol

Reminds me when I was a little kid, such great memories. I had both their rookies, Jose's was worth a lot of money at that time. Ozzie's card was'nt worth squat and most people used it to scrape the caked-on grease off their grill.

Thanks just fixed the thumbnail with a picture of Jose and Ozzie together in uniform from 1990. That original thumbnail is from that 1990 game so that's not Larry Arndt who wore #30 in 1989. That's #31 Scott Hemond who was with the A's from 1989-94. Just checked their bio's and they do look similar. Thanks again though, much better to have Jose and Ozzie in the thumbnail.

Ozzie's at bat in the video is a combo of his 1st and 2nd AB's. He made an out in his first at bat but wanted the info from the announcers of his first day in the big league's.

good observation. Jose is 6 foot 4 inches 240 and Ozzie is 6 foot 2 inches 220. I guess being twins doesn't mean two are exactly the same.

they may sound a lot alike but you can definitely tell them apart. an interesting test case in just how hard it is to make the majors, twins, one has prolific mlb career while his twin brother spends his entire baseball career in the minors, independent leagues, and foreign leagues. ozzie hit 48 home runs for the atlantic league newark bears, considered on the level of AA. he was having legal troubles at the time so i don't know if he was black balled for that. he was caught juicing as well. i bet ozzie could sell a book.

I remember Ozzie. His MLB didn’t last very long and more the anything he was probably juicing like his twin brother Jose. I’ll never forget the Bash Brothers of the A’s in the late 80’s to the early 90’s. Jim Abbott was a good pitcher as well as he only played with one hand having to switch his glove all of the time plus he did throw one no hitter in his career.

doubt the whole team was on roids, just Canseco and McGwire and maybe a few others. And they didn't get a pass since nobody really knew then that they were juicing. Steroids didn't spread throughout the league until Canseco was traded from the A's to the Rangers in 1992 when he started showing many of his teammates how to juice.
