Josef Locke is the only singer who can reduce me to tears in seconds! As a child, my parents had 78s with most of his beautiful songs. My dad (the Irish one) worked away a lot and my mum acquired 2 tickets to see Josef at a London Theatre. The only person she could take was me. I was about 8 yrs old! (c.1953). I've searched and searched on line but can find no reference to London appearances at that time. Glad to find this posting because I'd like to ask if anyone else remembers his London shows or, better still, if they were there and remember the date! (Kids don't record stuff like that!)

Brings back memories! Saturday morning pictures at the Odeon, South Woodford, singalong in the 1960's. "We are the boys and girls well known as, the minors of the ABC, and every saturday we'll turn up to sing .....We love to have a little sing song, oh what a happy crowd are we. I was reminiscing about my Grandad John Mclaughlin, and I happened to visit my Uncles grave (Brendan McLaughlin buried in Silverstone village Northampton) just two weeks ago. Then I remembered my grandad, Brendan and Dickie singing at my Grandads anniversary and it was like the moon had risen and the stars were out. We all joined in and it was just a remarkable event. They all had a voic and they all knew how to party :)

He was.........seemingly IS A WONDERFUL SINGER............but , go figure............an IRISH TENOR..............so I am not a bit surprised. Just more surprised that big-time-lover of and FANCIER OF IRISH SINGERS and stage & screen performers have only learned of Mister Locke's recently. AND< I'm guessing that it sure could have a lot to do with Radio, Television, Ireland (RTE.ie ~ the internet & people younger & older learning the arts & sciences of film restoration ~ transferring the old television films into digital forms. Me? I've been studying it for a few years and am no genius & am still PLEASANTLY AMAZED at the GOOD we people can do through our SHARING OF ART & HELPFUL SCIENCES & GREAT MUSIC.Like this.) THANK YOU VERY MUCH to whoever all's been saving such films & audio recordings as this.........THANK YOU TO WHO ALL is HELPING MAKE SUCH MUSIC AVAILABLE TO THE "global village' of people around the world now who can watch & hear on 'mobile' (or what some of us call 'cellular' or cell phones .
