I like Josef but I am confused. Also, what a bunch of softball questions. Let’s talk about your emotions? How about, “please explain specifically what communication led you and your team to believe that it suddenly was legal to use P2P on restarts?”

‪Of course no one will forget, but it makes it a whole lot easier to forgive when you’re able to own and take responsibility for your failures because that’s the hard part. Good on him for doing that in front of a camera instead of releasing a generic written statement.

Is Joseph not familiar with his bosses history?

Not believable at all that he thought there was a change to the P2P regulations on starts and restarts and he was the only one. Even less believable that his engineers thought so too.

While perhaps not the easiest explanation to accept, it's difficult not to listen given the clear, unambiguous, extremely obvious, and easily obtainable evidence -- which he, and the entirety of the Penske team -- would have been aware of. I find his explanation at least worth considering given the absolute lack of any effort to avoid detection. No sudden camera issues. No unexplained telemetry drops or data-logging failures. And the utterly pointless use of their "secret" advantage during a practice session in which it wouldn't make a single bit of sense or garner any advantage. Nothing. You have to admit that if they were truly working to secure an unfair advantage it was the most foolish of errors to use it during a practice session for all the world to see. Why would they risk exposing such an advantage during a practice session? It literally makes no sense.

I hate these technical gimmicks in Indy Car and F1. Take the gimmicks out and race heads up if you want racing fans and not spectacle watchers

im not a fan of this guy mainly because I didn't know about him, but I admire his ability to admit his mistakes and apologize publicly to everyone about what happened. I understand that he screwed up but this is 2024 and software in racing should have prevented this.

I’ve been in situations where I didn’t know I broke a rule or someone’s trust and had complicated reasons for my actions that were hard to believe. You guys can’t act like you haven’t done the same in your lives. Nobody tried to hide this and the drivers took full responsibility. Roger could’ve swept this under the rug since he owns the team and the series but he didn’t. I don’t see any lying here.

I'm still calling BS. There is ZERO chance that he didn't mention P2P on restarts to SOMEONE on the team. The team would have talked about it and SOMEONE knew it was against the rules and they didn't self report. They intentionally hid the truth

This was a tough listen. He was all over the place. Even started speaking too much at times. The penalty has been given. We move.

I believe him totally. It doesn’t make any sense that a world class driver like Joseph would risk ruining his reputation for that race. Why would he be doing it in practice if he was trying to cheat?

Even i know P2P is disabled on restarts. Knowing tht why would any driver bother pushing the button on a restart? He knew, not sorry, sorry he got caught.
