*Regarding the screw, the correct replacement machine screw size you're looking for is 10-32 x 3/4in. You're still required to cut 1/4in. off the screw to achieve the shorter, original 2/4in. in length. You'll also need to shave off a bit from the head depending on which head type you get. Unfortunately, you can't purchase the exact size anywhere (from what I've gathered searching online).* *If you'd like to take on the project yourself you'll at least need things like a vice, a hacksaw, a file and one correctly fitting nut. This nut is used as a reference to cut and to prevent the screw from moving out of place and damaging the threads while seated tightly in place with a vice. If you're in possession of a vice with screw slots you may be able to accomplish this task without using any nuts. These nuts are also used to help clear out the threads from debris after cutting the screw shorter and filing down the cut end smoother. I personally acquired screws with head sockets for use with hex keys, but other head types will work as well (albeit some are better than others) as long as the diameter and pitch measurements are identical to what I've specified earlier (that being 10-32).* If you're in the US, you can conveniently find these screws at the local hardware store, Home Depot or Lowe's. Of course, you may be more inclined to order them online given the current circumstances with the still present Covid-19 virus wondering about. To which I'd imagine everyone wishes this troublesome pandemic would be done with by now. As for the springs that came along with the original pos screws throw them away. They're useless after you put the replacements in. The reason why the original screws are the shitty way they are is because they house the springs so they don't fall out when you loosen them. Still, it's fucking ridiculous. Whoever thought this screw was a great idea should be shot... *With lead.*

Great video, agree on all points. One thing you missed is the stock retractable mechanism is sometimes not locking positively, the way to fix it is to bend a few tabs on the inside of the stock, there are some videos out there showing it. If you dont do this you might find that when you fire while pressing the gun hard against your shoulder it will move back in, happens more often on full auto, not that you should be using that [...] Another issue that most people wont have is that the grip mounting system is badly engineered, tightening the grip to a fair strength will make the nut on the lower receiver star smushing the plastic, because it does not have good enough contact patch to hold the tension. Also the nut size is not correct for real steel grips. The easy solution is to remove the trigger group, with a drill bore out the original hole and drill the rest of the way into the receiver, then you can get a normal hex head bolt, thread it into the plastic from the inside of the receiver and then attach the grip with a nut on the inside. This will be extremely secure because you will be using a larger diameter bolt and you are able to tighten it a lot more (not that you need much more usually) Also it does not interfere with the trigger group. One slight improvement is to loosen the set screw on each side of the fire mode selector and push the selector in, so that you dont have a big gap between the receiver and selector, aditionally this will make each click a bit more positive/louder, as I find at least moving it into safe is a bit vague when wearing gloves. One "issue" that some people might have due to loose tolerances, the bolt catch wobbles a bit and depending on how bad your gun is and specific magazines, it might fail to lock back on empty. Simply remove the bolt catch pin, add a gearbox shim on the side of the selector and pin it back, it will no longer wobble but will still move freely. Am currently curious about the AK lineup, would be great if you could get a hold of one to analyze hopup system, etc... The main draw I see is that the WE AK mags can easily last for 3-4 BB full loads, which is very impressive. Especially since I think there are 40 and 50rd versions (probably just a spacer on the inside like the stanags)
@JosefMucha1005 жыл бұрын
Great info, thanks! I also experienced issues with the fire selector. I actually made the indents in the body deeper to make it click more. I also had to play with the set screws because the switching was not smooth enough. Shimming the bolt catch was useful on other WE guns for me so good tip for the scar too. I had no issues with the stock or grip though. Maybe other people do, thanks for letting us know! I'm also curious about AK. Maybe I could get my hands on one. :)

Hey how about a problem came from lower receiver? It tends likely wobble back and forward. I found this problem on my scarH and my friend one. We still couldn’t find a permanent solution of it and the only thing we can do is adding small amount of double tape to prop up the gap between back side of lower receiver and stock baseplate. And if start to wobbling again, we change the tape with the new one. Have you guys find out this issue? And also about the grip mod, do you have link how to modified it? I haven’t an issue about this part but I would like to do the same thing as you advice. I really love we’s scar and would do anything to make it better and long lasting. Sorry if my english is bad, hope you guys understand what im talking about.
@lbatalha4 жыл бұрын
@@royrosabachtiar7058 I added a little bit of electrical tape to the rear of the lower where it slots into the stock, this makes it stiffer and I can no longer feel the wobbling. Makes it a bit hard to assemble the first few times but its fine after as it squishes.
@facundocorradini4 жыл бұрын
Hey guys! My whole team has been running WE AKs for years, and I'm in charge of keeping them running. Here's what I can share: We love those things. They kick like a mule, simulate the functions much better than GHK's (full travel bolt, click on empty), and have great hop units (same design as the SCAR) which translate in amazing accuracy and range. Downside is the trigger unit. Hammers and firing pins break, no matter what you do to try to prevent it, so it's not like WE ARs where you would keep a couple of OEM parts in stock and replace them as needed... in this case, a steel upgrade is mandatory. Ironically enough Well has made a WE AK clone that is awful in every other aspect but has those parts made out of cast steel , and they sell them on their own for dirt cheap. If you have big money to spare, WII Tech's steel CNC hammer and trigger parts are amazing. Stay away from RA-Tech's (it's awfully out of spec) and Haphaestus (hammer head is a separate welded piece that becomes wobbly over time, and they have a different design at the back that break springs all the time). The trigger unit itself can develop small cracks at the right side of where the hammer rides, the community has developed a steel epoxy reinforcement mod that works great and permanently fixes it. Check the WE AK group at Facebook for a guide. Other than that, it's solid as a rock. Nothing wobbles, everything lasts forever, accuracy and range are great, the recoil is amazing, handles just like the real thing, and externals compatibility with real stuff is great. Avoid any other unnecessary "upgrade". As always with GBBRs, there are tons of things available out there that are actually detrimental. If anything, consider a Maple Leaf bucking and barrel, switch the o-ring between the nozzle and bolt carrier for a x-ring for the best seal ever, and modify the floating valve to take the power down if required. *Do not use a NPAS*. I recommend them 100%, but you *need* to do the trigger box mod and throw in a steel hammer and firing pin.

@jhqtech5 жыл бұрын
The we scar l is my baby. I've put more time and money into it than any other gun, here's my experience. For parts you need, switch the trigger box for a ra tech full steel one, switch the stock plate for the angel custom metal one, and the max tac outer barrel kit for the hop up stability and barrel movement. Now for optional parts, the dynamic precision alluminum bolt is fantastic, I paired that with the angry gun rapid fire kit and my scar cycles faster than most high capas. The stock barrel is fine, I recommend a maple leaf crazy jet one tho with an autobot 75 bucking and omega nub. For fps variation, I use the ra tech magnetic npas nozzle, its worlds ahead of the old ra npas and works beautifully. My scar I now run with a tapp drum mag and it's become my most accurate, reliable, and fun gun to use beyond my p* and dsg

I have the heavy version (as in 7.62 not weight), that one doesn't come with that stupid unthreaded screw. Those two top screws in the carrier came so torqued down, I just left them be (and hopefully won't forget to check them periodically). But other screws will loosen on the Sc-H too. The gun indeed has a fat forend but I like to use a vertical grip anyway. The reason you don't want to put your finger in the way of the charging handle is not because the gun will malfunction but because if it hits you in an unlucky angle it will hurt like a motherf.... don't ask me how I know. The sling points are indeed very small, I use keychain rings, but paracord may even be better, I'll give it a try. I've put a ballpoint pen spring on the gas adjustment looking tool and 3D printed a little buffer below it (just a hollow cylinder with a widened base), which slows down the carrier a little bit before it hits the front of the gun when it returns home. Hopefully it will help with the lifetime of the gun but I can't test it, I don't have a second one to compare it to. I got the idea from the TM MP7, it has a similar buffer. If you want to do the same, make sure the ballpoint pen spring doesn't have enough tension to push the carrier away. I've also added some spacers inside the magwell so that each of my mags seat perfectly, because everyone on the internet said this will be a problem. I did this right away so I don't know how big of a problem it would've been, but I never had any feeding issues ever.

@PhantomM165 жыл бұрын
Saber Lambert, there isn’t a pretty way to do it. Assuming the paint job the previous owner did was pretty light (most spray can jobs are), try using Acetone to rub it off. Just be careful to not rub it too much because it can take the original coat off too...just nice light rubbing should get the spray job on it off. The rails are a different story, that will be much harder and you can try getting a cheap “soft” type toothbrush. That’s how I’ve done it in the past. I don’t suggest getting any type of paint remover because it seems much harsher than acetone. Acetone can be obtained at most hardware stores. It will be labeled as “acetone”. Hope this helps!

Hi Josef! Any experience with the WE Ace VD (SVD)?
@JosefMucha1005 жыл бұрын
No and I would never buy it. I suppose it's crap. Not worth the risk unless you totally dig the looks.

So when is Nov' going to let you loose to engineer a rock solid G.B.B.R. ? What ever form factor you choose I am certain it would be amazing !

& I am late (as usual ) I did not see the comment two down from mine but great video anyway !
@JosefMucha1005 жыл бұрын
good question. There is other projects that need to be taken care of first like AEGs. GBBR is a niche thing.
@toothlessdevildog805 жыл бұрын
@@JosefMucha100 The A.E.G. should be at least out of development by now . Small run of a GBBR would make it more in demand .
