Dude, you are the bomb. My dinging was caused by a bad ABS module. It would constantly sound as I drove. You probably saved me from blowing my brains out. That sound is piercing to someone that has hearing damage already. Well done, Sir. Well done.

Yes. Thank you. I had the abs problem. Wasn't a bad module. It was a bad ground wire. Every time I hit a bump it would deactivate the abs. 33 bongs. Count them. Every time the abs warning light came on it would chime 33 times. Whoever designed this was sadistic. Especially since I had to endure this torture for a warning from a problem that didn't exist. It's a way to get people to go to the dealer for a new module they didn't need for $1000. Thank you again. My only concern was, is the chime thing part of a in line circuit that if broken would disrupt other function in the same, now broken circuit I guess not

replaced heater core in my farm truck 2000 Silverado. Afterwards, the chime sounded when the truck moved. With 329.8K and scars to prove it, I wasn't concerned about anything but SHUTTING THE CHIME UP. Found your vid and went straight to it. As the little cylinder popped off in my hand, I thought, "oh man, I hope this isn't a prank vid." It wasn't and you sir are a genius. Sincerest thank-you from NE Ohio. You just made this guy's day!!

Yeah, in GM they must really like it - they put chime function into radio in new cars, so you can't stop it now if you don't want to keep your radio.

By 2:52 I didn't need anything else. Did it in less than two minutes. Broke one tab that holds the box due to me not giving a fuck since it dings EVERY time the door is open. But yea, super easy. Your the shit bro! THANK YOU!

Thank you for that! I did it yesterday, No more dinging!! I grabbed the dinger with Vice grips and pulled it out. I wasnt comfortable with prying against the circuit board. Also remember to move your seat back(If its power) Before you disconnect the Battery!

Helped me out quite a bit with the junkyard one ton where I got my chime from. Gonna try to Jerry rig the chime's contacts to the + and - of my early 90's Ford chime wires and hope that it works like that. Doubt it will but hell it's worth the hustle since these GM dingers sound so much better than Ford's.

Yeah, looks like chime is in a socket but, by all means stay away from surface mount components when prying or, you'll break them as well. If you do break the components remember placement and number of the component since, new ones can be purchased and soldered on.

You can also stuff some foam in the chime opening if you want to quite but not remove the chime.

For all the people complaining about the chime going off with the door open, just take the key out of the ignition. Problem solved. If you want to listen to the radio with the door open, turn the key to run instead of accessory.

Would this also be the same for GMC? I have a 2003 GMC Yukon, and the chime is going off at random times when I am driving. Fo example, once I get to a stop light, and then start moving when the light turns green, the chime will start to go off.

Cullen Swenson I haven’t tried on the 2003 and up trucks but if it does work, it does stop the chiming for the ignition and the door open but I am not quite sure if it works on the 2006 Silverado.

Gera Chavez It should work , I did it to my 2002 Tahoe and it worked fine and it doesn’t really affect anything other then it doesn’t chime at all when you take it off, I haven’t had any issues since this video.

I would suggest for you to look up online to see where your chiming is coming from and find out if you can remove it like mine.

The door chime is controlled by the radio on the Impala, no way to disable it unless you go with an aftermarket radio or pull the radio out.

Since this chime does perform useful and important functions (like when the MIL comes on or when you have forgotten to cancel your turn signal) the issue is the ridiculous loud volume for those owners whose chime speaker is functioning. (Did you know you can make it even louder by holding down the #6 button on the radio?!!), Has anyone tried to muffle that little round black speaker?

My 2005 Yukon looks similar box but bigger. I just switched a junk yard radio and the chime is So loud as never before. The chime is coming from my door speaker. It took me 3 hours to just get the radio unlocked by removing a tiny chip. What was GMC thinking. Update: days later now after swapping the radio for a junkyard radio it's doing the same thing the clock is set at 12:00 in the early morning when I get up. Slowly draining the battery and after about 3 or 4 days it will be completely dead. I was however able to cut the wire to the left door speaker it's a tan where inside the rubber boot by the door hinge. That disabled the chime in the door that was so loud there is however a slate chime from the rear door I'm not going to worry about it

Cody...same here. 2004 Silverado. Took the box apart and no little round chime. I reviewed many more KZbin videos...and found some 05 & 06 Silverados have a chime hidden behind the cigarette lighter. I looked but found none. I cannot find where that little chime is located. The actual sound comes out of the drivers side forward speaker. Anyone know where this damn annoying chime might be located on my 04 Silverado??????

Mine has a little black box (behind radio area) with a harness plugged into it, and it has a small speaker in it. If you unplug the harness from this box, it stops the chime, but also stops the radio from working (who knows what else). So maybe theres a certain wire on this harness you can snip? I've not found a video on this yet.

If it's the same interior as a Chevrolet S10, it's behind the cigarette lighter. You need to remove some trim pieces and you get to a fuse box, the chime module is plugged in vertically in there.

The chrime is not just there to be annoying. If the car over heats or if the check engine light comes on it is there to warn you that something needs your attention.
