"that man" was his father...i'm a huge fan of BTS but Dimash is worth your time to dive down the rabbit hole ... he is one of the greatest vocalist certainly in this century and certainly as good as any vocalist in the last century. He is 30 years old and has been studying since he was 5. Both is mom and dad are premier vocalists! He has a large catalog of work and his fans are called "Dears". He is famous and touring all over the world now and his music is better known outside the US although he has sold out concerts here. His fans love reactions so get out there and start listen and doing them. He excels in opera, and pop among others and sings in several languages... he is a phenomena for sure and his star will continue to rise for the next few decades 4sure.

This is such a super fun performance for SO many reasons! First, it was only his second performance on season 5 of "Singer" so the audience and other competitors had only seen him do "S.O.S." which had already shocked them and made him an overnight viral sensation! I always love watching their reactions whenevr he does something to shock them all over again! Secondly, as mentioned in other comments, the man who pumped his fist in the audience is Kanat, Dimash's father. Dimash had been very lonely and homesick and Kanat came to surprise and support him. He didn't want to distract his son so he remained hidden until after the song, at which point Dimash spotted him in the sweetest interaction. Really, go watch the extended version on Gloria Wu's channel, it's worth it to see the whole thing! Something else I love about this performance is it is tied to one of the only scandals that Dimash is associated with: the original singer, Vitas, wasn't thrilled that his award-winning hit song had been done better by someone else so he legally banned Dimash from ever publicly performing it again! And you're right, the guy back stage WAS singing along because this song was insanely popular when it came out, winning 114 awards, so most of the people on the show and in the audience had at least heard it. Though... where Vitas only performed one key change in the original, Dimash performed three!

This was a comp so Dimash needed to ‘show off’. Yes, the man at the end was the father. Dimash had gone to China by invitation to the comp. Was in a strange country, didn’t know the language, was without family or friend support and was wanting to go back home, so his dad flew to China to give support. Dimash didn’t know he was there as Kanat (dad) kept in the shadows to not distract him, There is a longer video which shows Dimash seeing his father at the end and rushes to hug him. Hi, Jose, love your honest reaction on our beloved Dimash. Welcome to the wonderful world of Dimash voice/music. Dimash is truly unique. In this video, it was 2017. He was only 22 years old then. He will be turning 30 in May this year. He took the song higher and higher than the original Russian singer Vitas by 4x half notes. The man giving the happy celebratory fist pump at the end was Dimash's father, who is also a famous singer/artist in Kazakhstan. He was hiding in the audience watching, so to not give Dimash pressure during his performance. Dimash went to China alone, only with a translator, and was getting very homesick after a few weeks in China, so his father made the trip to support him. There is a longer video of this performance that showed the lovly and heart warming interaction between father and son. One can really see the love between them. I discovered Dimash ony 8 months ago and was instantly hooked on his voice/music and became instant Dear (his fan), so welcome to Dear fandom. Love and respect for Dimash.

You cut it too soon. That man punching the air was his Father, hiding in ther audience untl the end. Dimash didn't anticipate being in China for this competition for so many months and was there without his family. He was very homesick and didn't know his father had flown in from Kazakhstan to be there. He was thrilled to see his dad, but also a bit anxious and embarrassed. He is was very modest and shy and this was the first time he'd been pursuaded to wear K-Pop type make-up (eye-liner etc.) for a performance. Also he was quite flirtatious with the audience [ remember he'd been trained in the serious business of Opera and classical voice! ] and later felt his father might have thought he was 'too much' (arrogant) As they walked backstage you can hear Dimash asking his father - twice - "Did I sing well?" 😵‍💫 This is a Vitas original [ Russian singer Vitas was quite popular in China with this hit back in the day ]and Dimash, not only did it FAR better, but also took it 2 levels higher. Vitas was furious, not least because - allegedly - the 'Singer' Show's producers hadn't obtained his Copyright approval for this Cover, but just plain petty jealousy.he shouted that Dimash would never have his permission to perform this or any other of his songs - ever! And Dimash, respectful as always, never has. {* Fortunately this performance was already out there on the net - for us all to appreciate! } Yes, many commentations laughingly made comment about Dimash 'showing off a bit' with that stacatto piece, but yu will often see Dimash doing this, and also moving the mike around during his Live perfornces, just to clearly show, that this is not a pre-taped performance but all him genuinely 'Live'. 😊

If I remember correctly (not sure I do), I thought he went to China and was in a talent show similar to America’s Got Talent and blew the Chinese judges and audience away! I think that’s what this video performance is from. He was already famous in his home country but then broke into the Chinese market, where he has a huge following. Then after that, he was introduced to parts of Europe. I’m not sure if he has ever toured in the USA, but I’d love to see him perform live! Even his video performances give me goose bumps because he is so tremendously talented! And yes, I too am both ARMY and DEARS!!!💜❤️💜❤️ And yes, I believe you are right Jose, Dimash is younger in this video than in the first one you played. Winning this competition in China is what might have spring boarded him to further and more worldwide fame.

Maybe it'd be interesting to jump forward in time a bit and check out his recent live performance of "Omir" that he did with his little brother(who's an instrumentalist)? It's more chill(by Dimash standards) but very emotional and heartfelt since he wrote and composed it himself. He also got a new MV coming out on the 26th! :) Also, once you've listened to a few more songs I really recommend checking out "The Ultimate Dimash Guide" by LiLaSi, it's split into 12 parts(around 10 min each) and very well made and easy to follow, it'll let you know more about him both as a person and an artist.

Try this Koo Die Bur Gun He was 22 when he appeared as a wildcard at a Chinese singing competition called I am the singer or I am singer, which is how Dimash says it. You’ll be learning a lot about him as you react to his songs. Every song that he sings is a little miracle and it’s hard for us to pick our favorite, but the average reactor usually reacts to one of the SOS performances. Good luck on your journey.
