Joseph Conrad, Is Heart of Darkness a Colonialist Text?

There is a lot of irony and dark humor in Conrad's criticism of colonialism. It is much less direct condemnation than we see in George Orwell's novel Burmese Days. One reason some give for this carefulness is that Conrad was aiming at British status.

I have been going through this text carefully; and could give many reasons that any claim that Conrad was condoning colonialism by any stretch could only be result of very sloppy reading. Marlow is shuddering all the way through at what he had gotten involved with.
