I met Mr. Galloway at the Vietnam Wall in 95 to say “thank you” to the General and his Air Cav comrades in arms. Though the memory of soldiers and newsmen fade, their indominable and intrepid spirit live on through their written and oral works “We were soldiers”. What an absolute Honor to meet Joe and Hal and Bruce. Joe and Hal deserve a medal of freedom. Salute and Garry Owen!

Thank you Mr. Galloway, I hope this Memorial Day found you and yours most excellent. Your work over the years has provided those who've been lucky enough not to be in the crucible of war a glimpse of its trials allowing us to understand the debt we can not repay and may only remember in humble gratitude... I personally know Joe. He came to the Silver Spur reunions twice. I had the honor of escorting Joe during these functions. Joe is a "soldier's" reporter. He knew generals and such but he love the basic Troopers. He wasn't like the pussy reporters like Dan Rather and Cronkite who stood behind the hotel in Saigon in the nipper palm and did the 6 o'clock news. He was real. He ate with the troops, he slept with them, he suffered with them. I think this man, the Vietnam man should receive the highest civilian award given by the President. Joe, i love you and my brothers love you. You were on our side and you are one of brothers forever.

Writing this 8/7/2018. Just four days ago Joe Galloway spoke at Indiana University for the inaugural National Ernie Pyle day. The Friends of Ernie Pyle have managed to keep The Ernie Pyle Museum in Dana open without government support.

Joe, I'm 65 years old a couple of days ago and maybe too young to have fought in Vietnam, but you were a hero and are a hero and will not be forgotten. And Ernie Pyle is not forgotten. So you rest easy, both of you live on in our memories. Thank you both for your service

Not even just followed. Dude fought and earned a bronze star. He has seen and lived combat without ever joining the military. He knows more than most people who signed up. (No offense)

It is so sad that a guy who has seen every conflict since Vietnam speaks of ending war. Yet we just keep going. He has see all the horrors of conflict. Though, here we are. I know it is way more emotion but, "that boy is my nightmare". That will never make a change.

Really a special man. I don't agree with him on the power of the press in changing the public's perception of the Vietnam War. They didn't cause it, but from Vietnam onward the American media has been engaging in a war of propaganda against the right. But that doesn't mean he was engaged in this. He is just a brave and noble man who was an American first and a journalist second.
