Minister of Propaganda from 1933 to 1945, Joseph Goebbels occupies a special place in the history and historiography of the Nazi regime. Presented as one of the most influential men of the Third Reich, he is portrayed as the Machiavelli of propaganda, responsible for bewitching the Germans and enabling the regime to establish itself and endure. But the question of the real influence of Nazi propaganda and the impact of Goebbels' specific propaganda remains.
Based on an analysis of the Propaganda Minister's diary, a veritable compendium covering his 25 years in power, this conference will examine the extent of Joseph Goebbels' power within the Nazi regime, and reveal its limits.
A conference organized at CHRD on January 23, 2020.
