This concerto is actually not by Haydn. The actual autoriship is still dabated, but some ascribe it to an unknown composer called 'Ignaz Malzat'.

@ You’re right. In fact, this isn’t the only Haydn-attributed concerto. I think the 2nd Cello Concerto has a similar story! I’m definitely going to start doing research to help try to unravel this mystery. Discoveries go a long way in the continued success of our music studies!!
@wilhelmorangenbaum27 күн бұрын
@@andymilstenmusic8520 I think for some time the authenticity of the 2nd Cello Concerto was doubted, but nowdays most musicologists mantain the authorship. I think the 2nd Horn Concerto is also not by Haydn but by his brother Michael.

How mutable is the world ! Vicissitudes are the lot of man However , Haydn's works will surpass and transcend time , race , nation and space There is something extraordinary in this orchestra's performance From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵

Wonderful interpretation of this concerto, where the spirit of Haydn sometimes announces that of Mozart operas! Have you noticed the young woman playing the oboe with a red flower in her hair? She is involved with a lot of heart in the performance of her part and carries an admiring attention to the solo part. Does anyone know her name?

I was wondering the same thing! She is very attentive and does show a lot of enthusiasm for the piece.

Unlike some others who have recorded this, Mr. Leleux tends to play more WITH the orchestra instead of on top of it. Almost playful at times. I believe this was Haydn's intention. (Same for the trumpet concerto, for that matter.) Just delightful. It's too bad folks during Haydn's period never had the chance to hear their music on instruments with today's quality (especially the brass). This performance might be pretty close to how Haydn heard it in his head, however.
@andrewthompson13368 жыл бұрын
Just sensational..I love the Haydn Concerto but all too often you hear it played so stiffly until suddenly Francois Leleux works his mastery and magic. He does rather stretch the boundaries given the period of the piece but he makes it so much more interesting and exciting to listen to..One burning question, we have the 1st and 2nd Movements but where is the 3rd...?
